I have been a ND fan for over fifty years
I attended Iowa.

Today Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois.
There are simply no words to defend that. Freeman simply is not the coach we need

As regards Iowa, we lost to Iowa State which is our #1 enemy. Ferrentz has been here about ten years too long.

Just a bad day for me

Hope Dallas will at least partially redeem this weekend tomorrow.

love the irish.
hate this loss today.
this offense is out of sync.
gotta get it figured out.

long time rival.
its never easy with purdue.

Three years in this HC is still losing games like this
I simply cannot accept it
He has to go

I have nothing against Iowa.
However as a big 12 fan I am happy Iowa St won. Normally Iowa has their number.

For me, it is ALWAYS a good day when ND loses. Even better when it is against a team not from the Power 4.
Although I am a WVU fan, I enjoyed when Marshall beat ND.

ND, Pedo State, Pitt and due to the cheaters at Mechigan...any time those teams lose is a good day.

Big 12 teams beat teams from the B1G, ACC and SEC today.
Pretty good for Tootsie Roll Kids.

Oh...and Nice to see a MAC team beat ND.

Enjoy it while it lasts
not going to see any BIG 12 getting close to a NC

What are your thoughts on Riley Leonard?

What are your thoughts on Riley Leonard?
another limited QB and that is on Freeman as well
If he is used right he can be effective; he showed that late in the TAM game.
He was used ok in this game early but not later on. Really sucked

Not a dig at Notre Dame, but feels like they are good for this once a year no matter who is the coach.

I can't talk smack in CFB land, but shame to see ND looking good to just land a stinker like that.

Actually this is pretty rare up until about twenty years ago. ND did not lose these games. Might get close but not lose them. Kelly had some real stinkers; so did weiss. Freeman unfortunately seems to be doing the same. I mean it does happen to others; remember Michigan losing at home to Appalachian state? But this is unacceptable if you want to be taken seriously as a contender for the NC. I had hope Freeman had turned the corner but this loss....

And yet Notre Dame is still ranked and ranked higher than the team that just beat them.

are you shocked? That happens a lot when a top ten team gets knocked off by an unranked team
We saw it with other teams over the years. Alabama rarely lost more than a few spots no matter who beat them.

Freeman made two mistakes this offseason.

One, taking on Leonard. Leonard was an inaccurate QB at Duke. Not sure why they expected him to be anything different here. If ND had a QB that could throw a little, they would have beaten NIU, probably by 10 or more. That last interception, for example? One, if he throws it long, the WR has a chance. Two, there was another WR who was crossing around 10-15 yards who was WIDE OPEN.

Second problem? Hiring Denbrock. Denbrock is overrated as an OC. Yeah, LSU put up a ton of points last year and the QB won the Heisman, but Denbrock runs a Kelly style offense, which was never consistent at ND. Denbrock, like Kelly, wants to whip the ball all over the field. Pair that with a QB like Leonard and guess what? You get random embarrassing offensive games like you saw Saturday.

In all honesty, if the offense struggles again, they should consider CJ Carr at QB or Angeli, even if it is just for a couple series'. They won't, but they should.

Yeah, Freeman has not shown great judgement in hiring his staff which is a critical need for a HC.
His recruiting overall has been excellent but the lack of real talent at the skill positions is another big problem
That and his inability to get his teams ready to play against poor opponents way too often
