Bad Use of Downs

CP is not using Downs as he should. He should be playing one of the safety roles, not covering slot all game. Downs IQ is off the charts and will be so much more effective with the play in front of him instead of chasing guys from behind. Might as just gotten a slot corner if thats how they planned to use Downs.

The defense doesn’t use a traditional “slot corner”. The “Star” role is the most important DB in Parker’s scheme and the entire reason why Downs was drafted.

It’s not a demotion or a waste. It’s the absolutely best way too maximize his skill set

It’s a safety-lb hybrid that covers, blitzes and stops the run. To work well you actually *need* the highest IQ player on the field as he is the one handling coverage communication for the DBs
