This is the type of stuff that drove me crazy. Moore has many positives, and can get your team to score points and rack up yards.

But when it comes to situational football he’s clueless. When it comes to nuanced plans of attack he’s clueless. Chargers fans have been complaining about end of game playcalling, something we saw versus GB and Jax last year.

My only hope is Mike doesn’t get too conservative. If not, I think he fixes many of Moore’s blindspots.

Moore IMO blew the Miami game. Especially when the team got into the redzone on the 2nd to last possession.
Sort of got pass happy, even though the game plan through most of the game was to run the ball.

We are still early into the season, and a lot could change, but it seems to of been a good move letting him go.

Many of us feel like Herbert is more physically gifted than Dak. But we will now see that regardless how gifted you are poor detail and predictability is going to hamper any QB. Especially versus a good/playoff D.

I stand by the biggest issue being coaching. I really don’t think we go much farther if you were to replace Dak with Herbert these past few years.

Keep in mind Steve Young said this last year after our loss. “Dallas will never win with plays from 2005.” That Garrett tree has been recycling schematics for decades.

This staff is the best since Parcells. I no longer feel disadvantaged or like we are missing something going into a game. Much less headscratching than before.

It was so hard to articulate what he was doing wrong last year to convince others, but I guess there is no better comparison than now. And I agree that Coach Mac also needs to be careful about being too conservative, or even over-doing Pollard so we lose our three-headed attack. I was very worried about the OLine depth coming into the year knowing this was going to be the new focus but looks like we might be saved by some good draft picks and improved offensive coaching. As Aikman covered in his show today, the team is built for whatever the situation requires. Defense was obvious and I was thinking the earlier Super Bowl Pats teams were a good example of what Coach Q brings now, but offense is better too. Kellen and Zeke were blockers, and excited about the new year!

Some on this board were saying KM would no longer use stop routes because he had a real QB on the Chargers, lol.
lol what logic would that be. Let’s make the game harder for our less talented QB, but easier for the one who’s more gifted?

Moore is who he is at the moment. He’s got to make an extra step or two to go from stat-stuffer to winner as a playcaller,

There are obviously other factors that go into all of this, but I’m certainly curious to see how these seasons go for either team. Chargers have so much talent there’s no excuse for them to not be a contender.

*Mods if you could change ‘on’ to ‘in’ for the title that would be great*

Among many things, what really floored me was Moore calling 3 dang pass plays against the Jags when our defense got us back the ball with under 2 minutes to go. Jags didnt even need to use a timeout and it bit us in the butt

Where are the KM lovers / Dak haters?

For years we heard your BS rants about how Dak was the problem. How Dak was the one making Kellen Moore look bad. Well, where are your rants now??? Who is the one who was truly the problem? Dak or Kellen Moore? Y'all would constantly praise Justin Herbert. Well, why aren't you praising him now in 2023? Is it because he's playing badly, or is the problem Kellen Moore after all?

I appreciate all that Kellen was able to do here in regards to stats, but I will die on the hill (and have for years) that he was the last bit of Jason Garrett's stench that we needed to usher out of the building. Should have been canned when Mike got here.

KM is a guy that you want on your coaching staff, you just don't want him as your OC....yet. I think Jerry had the right idea with him at first, it just became too much too quick. The NFL has had a lot of young offensive gurus pop up and succeed in recent years, but we forget that these guys all took their lumps in the coaching ranks prior to becoming OCs. KM went from backup quarterback to OC at a rapid pace. I'd want him on my staff in some sort of play design/passing game coordinator type of role, but he clearly is not ready to be a full time NFL OC and calling plays.

Gotta love it. Stop routes that have no chance to get yards after catch. Sideline routes with a very low percentage to even work. Same stuff we saw here under Garrett and then Moore. Good luck Chargers fans. This is what you will deal with. Moore is clueless on how to call games situationally.

I'll be honest....not sure that is on Moore vs Herbert. 1st and 2nd down he had a guy in the flat and a guy crossing open and went with the covered deep pattern. Not saying he didn't have blame going 3 straight like that but overall QB has to be better and take what is there

Play design? Lol what? His play design is terrible. The only time his offense works is when his men beat the other men. That's it. He learned from Garrett. There is no scheme or design to open the field up. Stop routes, out routes, predictability. That is what you get from Moore. I'd want him nowhere near my staff.
