This is a perfect example of what a running QB like Hurts will do to a pass rush. The reason they stopped rushing is because they did not want to get out of their rushing lanes to give Hurts a chances to find a gaping hole to run through. Notice how the DEs rushed to Hurts's depth in the pocket and stopped?

I am not downplaying the Eagles OL. They are very, very good. Maybe the best in the league right now. The Titans DL is not a shabby bunch either. I think they are a defense that does not blitz much though. The threat of Hurts running with the football makes a huge impact on the defense.

I think the Cowboys playing at home will find a way to pressure Hurts. He'll make some plays, but the Cowboys need to make sure their offense is clicking as well. And Remember, the Titans lost to the Giants too.

Their ol is a beast and problem. Need them play bad or have injury. Otherwise they nearly impossible beat.

While I agree Hurts wont have all day to throw the football, he didn't have all day to throw against us in the first match up either. The QB run, and matching up with these receivers is the big concern to me right now.

They abused Micah last time in the run game, and the Cowboys CB depth has become a major concern. You can't play a heavy box, give your corners help over the top, and have a QB spy all at the same time. The Cowboys need to be able to either stop Hurts from running with just their front four, or someone needs to step up in coverage to allow this team to play a variety of coverage and not cover 2/3 all game.

It doesn’t matter. He’s practically unstoppable.

Most of the time you elect to run different defenses to cater to differ skill sets. QBs like Hurts and Allen simply cannot be stopped because of the run threat. You can either run a defense to prioritize stopping the run and plugging any lanes and holes for the QB and/or RBs to home run through. But that leaves the backfield available and open. Hence what happened with the Titans as they threw bombs every drive.

that is what I saw as well, almost as if the DL was in a contain assignment. the issue is you can't give NFL QBs that much time and expect your DBs to cover for that long.

This is why I like our chances........Hurts WILL NOT get this kind of time to sit in the pocket. Will say it again, we match up well.

What are you talking about. He got that kind of time and beat the Cowboys. Eagles OL is very very good. Their defense has some vulnerability but they have address it. RBs are still running on the Cowboys defense and that is not how you beat good teams in December and make a playoff run.

The problem in playing the Eagles is the scheme - not the personnel. They make you make tough decisions. You aren't going to be able to just rush Hurts. They'll dump it down in the flats. They'll run screens. They'll run a drag with Smith. Then they have RPO and read options and it all looks very similar. They make you choose and make you think. If our defense isn't thinking - doesn't matter about the personnel.

While I was watching that game It looked like the Titans DL didn’t really commit to rushing on passing downs, out of fear
Hurts would run.
