That is nuts having a lb against beasley in zone and man and not being able to beat that.

Darius Lenard is an absolute stud.

146 Tackles
7 Sacks
1 Interceptions
4 forced fumbles
1 fumble recovery

Definitely a front-runner for defensive rookie of the year.

Colts got great value considering he was a 2nd round pick.

Dpoy.

I don't know what type of routes those were supposed to be but Beasley beats him and then shuts down, had Beasley continued to run Darius would have had no choice but to be in the trail position. Seems more of a bad play from us than a good play from them.

In both examples he was beat from the jump and a faster read and throw by Dak would have completed each pass. How is that praise worthy?

Correct. Beasley had to sit in the zone and wait a few seconds while Darius broke on the ball before it left daks hadnds. Good play by Darius bad play by Dak. Ball should have been out much faster.

Exactly .. Beasley had beaten him badly but sat on the route and either he should have continued running or the offensive scheme should have allowed him to do so if the play called for him to sit on the route.

Of course if Dak throws it sooner, it's a non-issue.

I like his vids, just wish he didn't film them with a potato. The first play was all on Dak. He was a second too late, and if he would have lead Beas upfield a bit, instead of under throwing it, it would have been an easy pitch and catch. The second vid was a bad route by Beas. He should have kept running to the open space and sat down. If it were Witten, that is a catch 100% of the time, because he would be in the right spot.

Leonard is a good player there is no denying that. But those two plays are better examples of Dak's slow reactions than they are of Leonard's coverage skills. On the first play, Beasley beat him badly. Leonard catches up when Beasley stops and is waiting for the football. If Beasley either continues his route or if Dak see him and throws the ball quicker, its a completion and a potentially decent play. The second play shows the same thing. Notice Baldinger, who is not a fan of the Cowboys, didn't show the play where Beasley beat Leonard for a decent gain.

Honestly, when they were lined up and Dak sees Beasley covered by a LB, even Leonard, Dak should have anticipated Beasley would be open and hit him quickly. I'd take that matchup every play if the Colts were going to give it to me. But this is Dak's problem, or one of them. He is late to see things and then takes too long to release the ball. It gives defenders a chance to catch up to the play.

Its also a problem with the design of the play. If you have your slot receiver covered by a LB, then take advantage of the matchup. Instead of having Beasley stop, he should keep going so Dak can hit him in stride. I don;t care how good Leonard is, once Beasley beats him inside Leonard is not going to catch him unless Beasley stops of slows down. They actually ran a play like that I think in the 3rd quarter and Beasley got a nice gain out of it.

Everyone stop acting like the Colts defense is the '85 Bears and Leonard is the greatest LB since Butkus. It was one game and it was Dak at QB and Linehan calling the plays. The Colts defense has given up points and yards to other QBs in the league, they just caught the Cowboys on an off day - and the Cowboys offense is not very good to begin with.

This is the internet in a nutshell:

- Twitter user posts good plays by an ILB
- In a complete vacuum, idiots here blame Prescott for not completing the pass. No regard for the play call, where Beasley was in the progression, etc. Just a total lack of understanding of football.

Do you understand that the best QB's do pre-snap reads and after recognizing a zone where linebackers are responsible for a WR , they get them the ball immediately ? Top QB's get a wide-out the ball as soon as they have a step past the defender.....................That didn't happen on either of those plays.

What? I didn't take anything away from Leonard. That guy is a phenomenal player. All you have to do, however, is watch the posted clips and you can see, plain as day, Beasley is open.

Also, I don't think you understand how the term "in a vacuum" works, because how you used it makes no sense.

Furthermore, personally attacking someone and calling them an idiot when their point is patently valid, says a lot more about you.

I don't think the issue is anticipation with the second play. If you look at the second play, Beas wasn't the first read as Dak is looking at the other side first after the snap. If anything, it's both bad route by Bease to stop where he did and Dak should have led Beas away from the defender more.

I have no doubt Dak didn't look at Beasley first. I don't think Dak can read a defense presnap. I think that's one of his most glaring deficiencies. Presnap reads aren't set in stone, however. When you see someone like Beasley, who is lighting fast in and out of his breaks, lined up across from any linebacker, that has to become your first read unless you need a big gain.

I want to say Beasley should carry his route across the field, but then we are asking Dak to not only read the coverage but also adjust to what a WR is doing on the fly. Something else I think he struggles with.

I'm not here trying to outright bash Dak, but these two plays highlight multiple very real issues with his ability as a quarterback.

We can say Beasley should carry that route, but then, Beasley carries the route on the first clip and how'd that go?
