• Rams running back Steven Jackson apologized this week for his sideline outburst late in last week's home loss to the 49ers, in which he went off on some members of the team's injury-riddled offensive line. Jackson said he was frustrated.
Fine. After talking about his goal of posting 2,500 yards from scrimmage this season, he has just 118 yards rushing (39 carries, 3.0yds per carry, 2 fumbles lost) and 39 yards receiving through two games, a pace that would leave him about 1,244 yards shy of 2,500. But the worrisome thing I heard in his apology was a reference to his frustration in not reaching his individual goals.
"You do have to be more patient with what's going on,'' Jackson said, of the team's patchwork offensive line. "Everyone sets goals and I'm aware enough to know that it's going to take some time around here.''
It would have been nice if Jackson mentioned the Rams' team goals, too. St. Louis is 0-2, after being picked by some (including me) to win the NFC West.
