Barber better than Julius thread *Merged*

i'm a jj fan, but i would understand if barber began getting the starts. he's just plain run well, so he deserves more touches.

i'm disappointed that jj hasn't done more with his opportunities, because i think he has a lot more good runs in him.

here's what i expect: barber will get a lot more carries, and he'll do a lot of good for the team. but some days he will play well and jj will look like the backup, and other days barber will struggle and jj will show up big.

i see both guys as capable of getting about 1,200 yards over the course of a season; they just do it in different ways. together, they make a good 2,000-plus-yard combination. we could do worse than that.

I agree with a lot of this. I think it is obvious Barber should be getting more carries, but I don't think that means Jones should be getting none.

I prefer the way they are used this year. When it was Parcells, save in the redzone, it seemed to be different series they each got.

Now they just change them up during drives.

I've always thought if it ain't broke don't fix it but i have to admit watching JJ run is just painful now I do Belive our running game would be better if MB3 got the starts and most of the carries he's just a better all around HB

It would seem that Julius is only in the game to give Barber a rest and keep the chance of him getting hurt less possible by getting some carries.


Barber 14 for 89 yard with a long of 49 - 2 TD's

Julius 15 for 32 yards with a long of 7 - 0 TD's

There was a big difference between the two today. If you cant see that, I dont know which game you were watching.

I hope Julius can somehow turn it around but it looks dimmer and dimmer after every game.

If we started taking away the long runs for RBs then they would all look a lot less impressive. Emmitt wouldn't be in the HOF and Tony Dorsett would be no better than Troy Hambrick.

I was like. Well we don't get 1st down here w/ JJ running the ball.


Everyone says we need JJ. I thought we did to but now I am starting to wonder. The guy runs right into blockers constantly.

If there is nothing there. Why do you run into the back of your blockers? Why not stop running like a robot and just bounce it where you see something.

JJ is driving me nuts w/ this running style. He needs HUGE holes to get anything going. Heck I could do that.

Of course Barber's run counts. But I'd rather get a consistent 4 yard average than 3 yards a carry and then one long one.

The fact is, other than one run, we didn't rush extraordinarily well today.

And I didn't say that Barber wasn't the better back. I said it was a far less impressive stat line without that one run.

Exactly. Barber is the bell-cow. JJ should never be getting the ball on 3rd downs. I think 9x out of 10 it doesn't get a 1st.

We do need the 2 back system. It is working for us right now. Just drives me nuts that Barber is not being used more.

What about Tyson? He needs at least 5-8 snaps a game to. Use him in place of JJ on 3rd next time. He at least is driving for more yards every run. JJ just get's backed up and pushed around.

Miami did a good job stuffing our run. Even Marion didn't have that good a day. Take out the 40 yard run he's got 13 carries for 49 yards so it's not near as good a day. The 40 yarder was when the D was just worn down for Miami.
