Barber better than Julius thread *Merged*

Miami did a good job stuffing our run. Even Marion didn't have that good a day. Take out the 40 yard run he's got 13 carries for 49 yards so it's not near as good a day. The 40 yarder was when the D was just worn down for Miami.

Why do people still want to detract from the greatness that is Marion Barber?

Take away most of Emmitt's long runs and he's no HOFer.

My point exactly.

Hey - lets just take the 13 carries away also.

Now he has NONE !!

Cut Barber !!

You're waaay too sensitive, and waaay too quick to anoint a player with "greatness." Nobody is taking away from Barber, you're just giving too much.

I think everyone is in agreement that he is the better runner than Julius. He runs hard and with desire, everyone likes that.

But he wasn't making it rain out there until one play against a tired defense - and that wasn't even one of his normal runs - he found a hole and just split, whereas normally he runs over a few guys. It was a great play, but just as much a screwup on the part of Miami's defense as Barber's ability.

The fact is our OL is better at pass protection than run blocking right now, and NEITHER RB was making it rain out there. Barber was doing a little more and was more exhilerating, but it isn't as if he took over the game.

We all like him, he doesn't need you to defend his honor.

Trust me. With the way you express your likeness of him he needs all the defense he can get.

If MB3 takes on the majority of base snaps + 100% of nickel packages + goalline short yardage he's going to wear down. LaDanian Tomlinson doesn't even take on that much of a workload. I don't necessarily mind the split of carries as it is now. I could really care less who has his name called out of the tunnel as the starter in pregame ceremonies.

I'm just glad people are finally giving up on this "Julius Jones could be special if Parcells wasn't holding him back" nonsense. He's just a mediocre back ... always has been, always will be. If a back's entire career were based on three of four good games as a rookie, Anthony Thomas would be an elite back.

Oh please, get over yourself. I've said over and over again that I think he is the better back and I want him to get more carries. What the frick more do you want me to say? That he should be in the game every offensive snap, that he should get every single carry and that he needs to be in the probowl NOW?

No - I'm telling you like it is and how I see it. Other than one run, our running game didn't do much. That's the way it is. A successful running game isn't a lot of 3 yard chunks and one big one, it's knowing that your OL and RB are going to get you in position to make a 1st in 3 downs or less. Neither running back did that. End of story.

I don't disagree with anything here.

It's nice to know that you've successfully dissected this one game. Have you bothered to watch Barber perform in any other games? The guy deserves the most important carries, or shall I say, the bulk of the carries. Thankfully Jason Garret appears to be noticing this too. Carry on.

Amazes me how fast people forget that JJ rushed for over 1,000 yards last year.

amazes me how some people think that 1000 yards is the gold standard that it once was.

Its not.

23 players did it last year.....not too exciting anymore.

:hammer:

1000 yards? Wow. That means he found 333 piles. Stellar.

Im sorry but why wont people man up and admit that barber is better.

I originally thought that julius would be better this year but i have to be honest his vision is terrible and he doesn't even have the wiggle that we used to see in his rookie year.

I think that julius honestly bulked up too much and just doesn't have it anymore.

just watch the games folks and be realistic MB3 is way better than jones right now mb3 is playing like an elite back everytime he touches the feild.

he never goes down on the first contact, he makes people miss, he outruns defenders, heck he even blocks well.

you can do alot worse than jones but im saying MB3 should get 20 to jones 10 carries a game.

We are better team with barber in the lineup than with jones if you cant see that you better get the same laser eye surgery that aikman got a few years ago.

I think Barber is our best back. But I like the balance between the 2. I would like to see them continue to split carries. It'll only make the running backs stronger at the end of the season.

I think this is the main point all us Barber backers are making. It doesn't matter who starts the game but it does matter who gets the carries during the crucial points in the game. Barber gives the team energy and toughness when he is in there and JJ just runs into the pile with no bounce or vision. That Seattle game in which JJ exploded was a long time ago... To me Barber has earned the right to get the majority of the carries. Maybe JJ would be more successful as a change of pace back, who knows?

Wow - you gave me 'ZZZ's" and asked if I have bothered to watch Barber perform in any other games, then tell me that he should get the bulk of the carries.

All of which I said were true earlier.

So tell me, if I am critical of other players, do you automatically think that means I think they can't play either?

It's amazing how JJ is supposed to be the guy with superior speed, but every time I look around, Barber is juking someone at the LOS and getting to the outside and hitting the corner.. This can't be possible. :)

You would need to pay me $100 to answer that question while lying on my couch. Since that's not a possibility we'll just stick to the program. If you agree that Barber deserves the majority of the carries then why do you seek to belittle his performance? Are you bipolar?

It would seem that Julius is only in the game to give Barber a rest and keep the chance of him getting hurt less possible by getting some carries.

Barber 14 for 89 yard with a long of 49 - 2 TD's

Julius 15 for 32 yards with a long of 7 - 0 TD's

Wow I thought JJ was up somewhere about 70 yards today as well. Neither seem to be overly impressive today, while I do prefer it for Barber to get more carries because he is a finisher, let's not make him into the second coming either, that 49 yard run was more a product of the wrong defensive set on the Dophins part.

I'm a Barber fan and I'm impressed on his last Touchdown where he looked like he was fast. Stop saying he's slow because he knows how to get to the endzone! Jones had a couple good runs! Overall just happy the boys are 2-0!
