Barber better than Julius thread *Merged*

You would need to pay me $100 to answer that question while lying on my couch. Since that's not a possibility we'll just stick to the program. If you agree that Barber deserves the majority of the carries then why do you seek to belittle his performance? Are you bipolar?

For the second (or is it third time), I am NOT belittling his performance. I am just not granting him an all-star game. He was ok. He was better than Jones. He needs more carries. But our OL has to block better, because he didn't have a lot to work with out there.

Fair enough. Are you ready to move on now or would you like to continue our little debate into the wee hours of the morning?

I am not sure if MBIII is a starting caliber back, because I have not seen him in that capacity. In my mind at least I am certain that Julius Jones is not a starting caliber back, regardless of whether he is currently starting or not.

I like our two back system.

But it seems our running plays seem to work better with Barber in.

They are splitting playing time throughout the game. Against the same defenses. MB3 had SIXTEEN TD's last year and already is on pace for what 24? He is earning more reps.

I am not sure JJ is a starting calibre NFL back. He gets nothing out of nothing pretty consistent. MB3 seems to make something out of nothing consistent. Is a bigger bruising back.

I start MB3 and give JJ 30% of carries to keep MB3 fresh.

I have been reserving judgement, but MBIII is simply a stud. I know this is not news to anyone, but he should receive the majority of touches. Starting him is really irrelevant.
I think people are assuming that Barber cares about the formality of being named the starter. He gets plenty of touches, so whoever gets the first couple of carries in the game is pretty pointless to be arguing about

Can you imagine Barber and Maroney on the same team.... I bet people hated playing them in college.... They both run hard and finish hard.....Defenses must have hit the ice tubs quick after playing them.

This thread is funny....like we actually have a topcaliber RB on this TEAM.

The duo works fine together and it is showing by our record thus far. Let it go people.

Neither one is starter material, yet we have people acting like one of them is. Reminds me of the T-Ham days with people calling for him over Emmitt.

BOTH RB's showed good things today, yet they both also showed bad things today. The Dolphins did a pretty good job of stopping our run today.

How do you know that Barber isn't starter material? I don't get this, he hasn't been given the chance.

Jones clearly isn't starter material as his performances dictate.

Barber started a few games in the last two years when JJ was out. He seemed to do fine, I do not remember this aggressiveness out of him then however.

Oh, OK....Mr. Just say no to TO.

Just like everyone who said that T-Ham was a starter in this league.

Seriously, they are fine the way they are.....whether JJ starts or Barber starts, who cares? I'll tell you who....those that are wishing bad things on a member of our team.

I think too much lip service is paid to who starts. I care who finished and gets more carries. Jones had a very good first quarter, so I don't mind him starting. But Barber has shown that he can take the carries, so give him more.

You are honestly trying to compare Barber and Hambrick? Get real.

Ummm...yep. I've seen alot of TD's with Barber getting in there when the ball was around the 10 or closer...woo-hoo. I'm glad he scored them.

What? Is T-Ham HoF material or something? Is Barber?

Face it, the duo is just fine....you may care who starts, I don't.

i dont understand why people want to continue to see jones run up the middle for a 2 or 3 yeard gain. so WOW he has the potential to maybe run for a 25 yd gain once or twice a year yea hes so great... Barber clearly deserves to start and get 20-25 carries a game while jones at best get about 7 or 8 carries a game!

Jones/Barber remind me of Fred Taylor/James Stewart. Fred Taylor can burn a defense but tends to get hurt. James Stewart was great coming off the bench and even starting a game here and there. But I couldn't consider either a franchise back.

This is pathetic, we are 2-0, march the ball at will against defenses and yet every arm-chair QB wants to spam the board for the rest of us. Enough of these threads, important ones are slipping to page 2 because of you guys; we're going to have to get a daily #2.
