Barber starting could be a huge mistake

He can really only carry the ball in 1 hand and his stiff arm will be severely gimped. I really don't get the decision to start him when we have a perfectly capable backup in Choice :bang2:

I sense the same old BS tonight we'll have players capable of winning the game sitting on the bench not to hurt the feeling of banged up starter

It's all about not bruising ego's as opposed to doing what's best for the team.

Thumb hurt = only carry the ball in 1 hand ?

It's in a cast how are you going to grip something with a cast? it's a fumble waiting to happen if he carries with that hand today

Im more upset about Felix trying to run with a brace.

Tashards gonna get the bulk of carries in this game most likely.

I think the injured thumb is on his left hand, so he should be able to receive the ball fine and protect it. Catching the ball may be the real issue?

Does anyone think Barber is going to change the way he runs because of a thumb anyways?

He'll probaly wear a soft cast, more akin to a thick glove than a plaster cast.

No he's to much of a bad *** to let that stop him, but are the risks really worth the potential rewards in this case?

A healthy Choice is better then a banged up Barber it seems like such an easy decision to make for this game

Anderson is playing well this year and Barber is too valuable and not big enough to block as well as Anderson.

Barber carries the ball in his right hand and uses his left hand to stiff arm. I see no problem with either even with a cast. As another poster stated, I'm worried about his pass catching ability. This game should give us short and intermediate passes with a lot of throws to the RBs. It should anyway unless the run is even better than I think it will be.

Choice is not the complete back that Barber is even though he's starting quality on some teams. I only hope that Barber is 100% with his leg. Somehow people are forgetting that and I don't know whether it will be completely healthy even if he's not limping.

Its been clear for a year now that MB3 is 10x more effective coming in off the bench. He was a giant spark plug for the whole team off the bench in 06 and 07. God forbid WP makes a tough decision and change things up.

Didn't Felix Jones have a similar injury during the pre-season when he took a helmet to his thigh?

Marion Barber's was more severe, but shouldn't it be good to go following a two week hiatus?

MB3 shouldn't have played the last two games if it only helped the injury to linger and possibly be a detriment later in the season.

maybe because he's the only RB on the roster that can pick up a blitz worth a damn

Choice has shown improvement though..

Felix had a bruise. Barber has/had a muscle strain.

Some more 3 step drops in the passing game and a commitment to the run would limit the dependence on his blitz pick up skills

i agree, but think about who we are talking about here.. hint: it ain't Barber.

Garrett :: commitment to the run, as oil :: water

Even Terry Bradshaw was questioning Garrett on where the crossing routes were in the offense. Not sure I would want to be the guy that cant see something so obvious even Bradshaw can see it.

Or the fact that Wade is 3-0 after the bye week.

Falcons at Cowboys
4:15 p.m., Ch. 5, Cowboys by 4

The underachieving Cowboys try again to prove they're that good when a solid Falcons team rolls into Jerry Jones' Taj Mahal. The Cowboys' three wins have come against the Bucs, Panthers and Chiefs - barely - while Atlanta rides a two-game win streak. It's a matchup of strength against strength when the Cowboys have the ball. They love to run it behind a massive offensive line and have all three RBs healthy for the first time since Week 1. The Falcons have allowed less than 100 yards rushing combined in their last two wins.

Scout's Report

"Tony Gonzalez could be a big factor in the game. The Cowboys still don't do a good job of covering tight ends. They also play a lot of man coverage, which plays more into Matt Ryan's hands, and if Gonzalez starts finding space, the home run ball could be there for Roddy White. The Falcons aren't very big up front, so the Cowboys have a chance of wearing them down if they stay patient with the running game. Patience, however, isn't one of Tony Romo's strengths. Above all, the Cowboys have to avoid the undisciplined penalties that seem to kill them week after week."
