I've seen this guy projected all over the place from rounds 2-5. Believe he was projected late rounds because maybe he's injured or something and would probably start the year on PUP....anyway think I read that somewhere....anyone know if that's true?
If he ended up available late, yes we should be all over it

IMO, he is no where near as good as Cooper or Warmack...without injury, I don't see him in the first round and maybe not until later in the 2nd at earliest...I hope that he is not in the Cowboys plans before the 3rd round, minimally

He is good but perhaps not as good today at guard as Warmack or Cooper, though he has triumphed as a starter in the SEC at center, guard, and tackle.

The reason he may fall is that he hurt his left foot at the end of last season and was wearing a boot in early March. He may not be cleared to run until May. In 2010 he was All SEC right guard; in 2011 as a junior he won the Oakland Trophy at left tackle; and last year he recieved the Rimington Award as the nation's top center. That year he also got the William V. Campbell award as the best scholar athlete in the nation. Nick Saban compares him to Bruce Mathews (who is in the Hall of Fame).

I wouldn't be surprised or disappointed if Dallas took him in the first or second round, or the second if Cooper is there to be taken in the first, but I think he may well be there in the third for Dallas because of the injury. In any case I hope Dallas gets him.

:)

That is insane, if he was healthy I would think about the third.

I think he can be a very good center. Not sure he can be all that good a guard. But probably serviceable there. Tackle- forget it.

In regards to the Alabama OLine, "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts". In other words, the OLine was great as a unit but the individual players are being somewhat overrated due to the success of the unit.

Barrett Jones is a limited athlete that is not overly powerful. His biggest value as a draft pick was his ability to play early in the NFL due to being ahead of most college players from a mental/technique perspective. Now, he has a serious foot injury that could keep him from contributing to an NFL team in 2013.

Summary: Limited upside due to limited athleticism and limited early due to foot injury. This probably pushes him to the 4th round.

that your response huh good read

Probably not a great response; however, you need to consider that some members here have been studying and discussing the draft since the middle of the 2012 college season or earlier.

Now that the draft is approaching, many people that don't appear to have been in on the early discussions and draft study are popping up with posts/threads that appear uninformed.

I want cooper in the first but I would take this guy as my center in the second even if he had to recuperate some before playing. This has worked for us before on 2'nd rounders. Isnt that how we got sean lee and carter also? He was all sec at every position on the line. there is HUGE value there.

I want to see a new line with this guy at center cooper at guard and winston at RT.

I think he would be a great find for us in the 4th round but I don't think he lasts until our pick in the 4th round.

He's not on the same level as Warmack or Cooper. Not nearly as good an athlete as those two, but still a good player, who projects well at Center. Would take him in the 2nd round if he's cleared of any concerns after his foot surgery.

Jones is expected to start the year on PUP missing the first 6 games. Not opposed to picking him in the 4th, I'd much rather have the injured Dallas Thomas there however.

I think a lot of teams feel the same way. Not rated near as high as Warmack/Cooper. Thinking that he benefitted from having a lot of great players around him. Very smart, versatile player though. Could definitely see us taking him if available in the 3rd. Possibly the second. Much of it also depends on his injury situation, which may push him to the 3rd.

He's a 3rd rounder.

If we go Warmack/Cooper in the 1st, trade down in the second and pick up a 5th, 6th, or 7th rounder and draft Rambo in the low second, then pick up Barrett Jones in the 3rd, I'd be ecstatic.

What the :laugh2: :bang2: :lmao:

What a way to start my week.

Sorry to crack up so bad, but this is so out of line, you really should go back a look at some tape and then come back to the board and apologize.
Most here are forgiving and I'm sure you're a good dude.:)
