I thought the formula was a combination of draft position, new salary, and performance.
Just the contract they received relative to the contracts the Cowboys gave out to sign free agents.

Some trades are based on performance, so you might be thinking about that.

Glad to read some other names besides Jaylon Smith's. We've allowed 3 rushers to gain over 100yds, and embarrass the D. GMen and Cards didn't do because they were lacking at the time with a RB.

Jaylon isn't good, but he was better. He has issues with getting caught in the wash because that's something you have to get used to in the NFL game and his lateral movement needs work. But what I've seen is that he doesn't drive towards the ball carrier. He waits and allows the ball carrier to make a move. He stopped doing that as much today and that's why he played better. You're just not going to do much with the way Taco, Collins and Crawford are playing. It's why we struggled with Lee in the game against the Broncos. So I don't expect much better when Lee comes back unless we are playing against putrid O-Lines.

No one can play well in our D.. we play a soft zone most of the two in a cover 2 prevent.. so many easy yards for short completions.. which drags our safeties wide and out.. allowing some nice running lanes.

We have some serious issues on D and the scheme is one of the them. How many forced turnovers? How many 'close' turnovers? How many easy yards?

Church had a pick six today, Morris Claiborne ran a pick to the 2 yard line.

Those of you that said good riddance were wrong.
I have to tell you, this really stings.

Mo Claiborne would really have made a difference today.

Smooth point, young sportsman.

Brandon Carr seems to be playing well too. It does make you second guess the staff and personnel department.

Most of us wanted us to upgrade from those guys.

Many here were fooled into believing youth automatically equals an upgrade.

Heard a Ravens fan say Carr is always trailing the play. Sounds familiar. That aid, I wish we had resigned him. He wasn't terrible and was dependable.

So you think two players playing for two different teams, playing against two different opponents, against two different QBs, alongside 10 different teammates somehow has any relevance?

It's the worst of lazy analysis to think "oh, look what they did over there! They could have done that here!"

And you'd be right except that you are ignoring the v fact that the D has taken a huge step back this year with those being the primary change.

Did they not all of last season?

Not really. Claiborne was hurt a good chunk of the season and the rest of the defense had to be carried by the offense. And when it couldn't...we lost to the Packers in the playoffs...at home.

My biggest fear last year was us allowing all 3 to go and not have an adequate replacement in FA. That's exactly what happened.

Not surprised that the lack of leadership in the secondary that they aren't getting it together yet.

What exactly are you trying to argue here? That these guys are not playing well this season?
I don't know about that.

Last season the offense held the ball for long periods of time and kept the offense off the field.

The defense had good stats for limiting scoring until you looked at scoring per drive and then their stats were bad. That shows that the offense limited how many drives they faced.

The secondary and this defense has been trash for the past 7-10 years. It was the same crap defense that wasted Romo and will waste Dak too. Dak played a heck of a game today and the defense did what it has done in the past. How many times have we seen this end result? Too many to count. Claiborne, Church, and Carr wouldn’t have made any difference today.

To me the biggest surprise in the defense is the line. How in the world can you give up 160 yards to a rookie Rb and a patch work offensive line. DEs were giving up the edge all day. Rodgers scramble at the end was a back breaker.

I hate to say it, it’s gonna be hard to fix this defense this year. Obviously Dallas isn’t really a playoff team with this defense. I try to be positive, but it just isn’t.

I love having a great offense, but just for once it would be nice to have a defense that was truly dominant.

Yeah well its gotten plenty worse whether you want to admit it or not. We won't even sniff the playoffs because of this defense.

We weren't good last year either. We had an incredibly efficient offense that could score quickly or score slowly and kept the ball away from teams and gave us the lead. This year the offense is still pretty good, but not nearly as efficient and its rearing its ugly head just like last year's offense against the Packers in the playoffs.

Fact is, Claiborne missed NINE games due to injury. And for all of the discussion about creating a defense that creates more turnovers...we still struggle to do so, just like we did last year and the year before.

After a while it's not about 1 or 2 players, but a bigger problem which includes players and scheme.
