I think he has the chance to be a good. He seems to have pretty good cover skills for a safety. I wouldn't mind him starting next year. If one of the safeties missed a few games I wouldn't be as worried with him patrolling the backfield.

I think had there been an offseason he may have received a chance to start this season. IMO.

Cas will like this...hey, he is doable in this Cowboy secondary. I like where he is at, as to skill set. He does add to the mix. A keeper for myself as well.

He's a guy that shows up even in real games. I would definitely hope they keep him on the roster for his entire contract and if he earns it, give him another one.

totally agree...very impressed with him

the fact that he came from a smaller school with a totally different type of defense and role and he's come this far is very encouraging.

also was hearing Babe on the broadcast talk about how i think it was against Minny he was asked to help on nickel packages which he apparently had not done before but he didn't miss a single assignment according to coaches.

i will not be shocked if he becomes our SS of the future

Caught that as well...

Liked what I've been seeing from Church as well.

I think he's in a good position to "sit" behind Elam and Sensabaugh and continue to get seasoning in small doses for another year.

Church was a pet cat of mine from last season. You can just tell he knows what he's doing out there, and even when he get's beat, he's in position to make plays. He plays faster than his footspeed, too, because he's decisive and plays the man and not the ball.

He should steal some reps this year. Make it a three-man race for the two safety jobs next year. Or even see if he can push Elam or Sensi enough to take a spot by the end of this year in the best-possible case scenario.

He seems to always show up and mostly for good plays... I can't see the Cowboys cutting him.

How about making him put in some weight and play nickel LB and ST and I think he would make a good nickel LB if he put in weight

Adding or subtracting weight doesn't mean the player will ever "change" into the role of another position. Felix added weight, killed his speed and didn't make him any more durable. Roy 38 screwed with it as well, and it didn't help there.

Leave him as is. His ability to play centerfield effectively gives Rob one more tool in the secondary when he goes into his exotic 1 and 2 man fronts.

Church has certainly been a bright spot in an otherwise ho hum preseason for the defense.

I seen a video showing him working on his speed. So he's at least trying to get faster also. He's trying to be a more complete player. I like where he's headed.

I have a feeling he'll start at some point this year

Yeah, he's fast enough to play, that's all that really matters. He's been one of the bright spots this offseason.

For that to happen Elam would have to get injured or tank pretty bad considering he is the only safety on the team that has experience in Rob Ryan's defense AND is an experienced defensive signal caller.

I agree 100%. His speed this year has REALLY REALLY improved from last year. I thought he was way too SLOW to play in this league and would be CUT this year if the Boys had drafted or signed a Free Agent Safety. But, surprisingly to me, he's looked very fast (long speed) this preseason which I really didn't expect to see. Since we know that he's a very physical safety, he may develop into the Darren Woodson type of safety that we all were hoping that our Scouts would finally find and/or our Coaches would finally develop for this team.

I like him too. I hope he can turn it on. Woodson wasn't the fastest guy either. But he was faster than Church. So church has to make up for it somehow. I'm not sure he can play up to NFL speed in this league.
