Barry Sanders will be on Mike and Mike this morning, and I will give a recap of the segment if I can stay awake long enough to see it.

They still haven't had him on yet. Either they are saving him until the very end of the show, or Mike Greenberg lied. I know Barry is supposed to be on First Take this morning though.

I guess I missed, I'll just have to watch for him on First Take and on The Best Of Mike And Mike this afternoon.

They had him on earlier this morning.

I haven't seen his interview with Mike & Mike yet, but here is a recap of what happened with him on First Take:

-Dana Jacobsen asked him which RB reminded Barry of himself. He said he couldn't pinpoint one, but the ones that he liked are LT, Brian Westbrook, and Maurice Jones-Drew. He said he was partial to MJD because they are about the same size, similar running style.

-Then DJ asked him which RB would he pay to see. He asked whether she meant past or present, and he said Jim Brown because of the way he used to dominate and just abuse defenses and make them look bad.

-Then DJ brought up the Bengals cutting Rudi Johnson and the Lions picking him up, and the fact that the Lions are still trying to replace Barry. Then she asked Barry what he thought of Lions rookie RB Kevin Smith and what advice he would give to him. The first thing Barry said for Kevin Smith to do was take care of his linemen, doing things like taking them out for steak dinners for example. Then he said that Kevin Smith should cherish the game, and stay close with coaches and teammates and ask them to critique his game and tell him what he could do better. He said that he was a good RB and would do well with the Lions.

-Then DJ asked Barry if he were one on one with a grizzly bear, between him and the end zone, would Barry score the touchdown. Barry said he thought he could do it, especially if his life depended on it. Then he asked if the grizzy bear had cleats on, and if he didn't it would be a safe bet for Barry to make it past him. Then DJ gets Lomas Brown on the phone and asked him if he thought Barry would get by the bear, especially with a block from LB. LB said if Barry is still as quick as he was in the 90s, then the bear wouldn't stand a chance against Barry. LB said he would have Barry's back, and Barry said he would trust him to block the bear for him. Barry was then asked if Lomas Brown were put in the same situation where he had to get by the bear to score a TD would he be able to, and Barry said he would, and that LB was quick to be as big as he is.

-Then DJ asked Lomas Brown if Barry took care of his linemen, and he said Barry always took care of them. He said Barry always took them out to eat, and bought them things like Rolex watches and big screen TVs, etc. Lomans Brown then said, "Kevin Smith, listen to B and take care of your big fellas."

-The last part of the segment was about how Barry teamed up with Alltel and what he was doing for them.

thanks for the recap. The bear thing sounds painful for all esp Barry. Glad to see him being so humble. He was a good guy.

Yeah, but a Barry backer would say, "Barry took care of his line, it's a shame they didn't take care of him".

He was on Mike and Mike this morning. Apparently they are really high on Felix Jones and compared a few moves Felix made in training camp to moves Barry Sanders would make. Went on to say that Felix is going to have a bunch of highlights this year, etc. They asked Barry if he has been watching Felix, which by the way he answered, sounds like he hasn't.

Sorry if this is very brief, but I caught a snippet of the interview as I got in the car this morning. The rest of the interview was I believe about his moves, regrets on retiring, etc...

No problem, just wish I could have caught him on Mike & Mike this morning. Especially since he talked a little bit about Felix Jones.

I was expecting more from Barry but he really did not say much. The Felix Jones portion was mainly carried over from a discussion the hosts were having about him even before Barry got on the line. Although Mike & Mike seem to have high expectations for Felix this year, which was pleasant to hear.

He did most of his talking on First Take, check out my recap if you already didn't.
