The cap-strapped New York Jets began their anticipated salary dump Tuesday, releasing linebacker Bart Scott and three other veterans.
In other expected moves, the Jets also cut linebacker Calvin Pace, safety Eric Smith and tackle Jason Smith. Just like that, the Jets created $30.7 million in cap relief. It puts them about $4.7 million under the cap.

This starts what figures to be a tumultuous offseason under new general manager John Idzik, although his predecessor, Mike Tannenbaum, was planning to make the same four cuts. Read More Here http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/8962969/bart-scott-calvin-pace-five-reeased-new-york-jets

This Idzik guy looks like a smart one. I hope he dumps big mouth Rex so I can start liking the Jets again.

That didn't seem very painful for the Jets to cut $30M from the cap. Just like that they are $5M under.
