EA has officially announced Battlefield 4, in the shape of an exclusive beta for those who pre-order Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition.

This news first appeared over the weekend, when Origin – EA's digital distribution platform – carried an advertisement mentioning a BF4 beta.

“Though Battlefield and Medal of Honor Warfighter each offer players a completely unique experience, they are united by their underlying technology base – Frostbite. These are two of the hottest shooters, coming together to deliver a one-two punch of action, intensity and shooter entertainment,” said Frank Gibeau, President of EA Labels.

Access to the exclusive beta will be available in Autumn 2013, and further details on Battlefield 4 will be revealed at a later date, said EA.

I believe EA already said BF4 was going to carry a $70 price tag too. I believe I paid $50 for BF3.

I'm an enormous advocate of BF3 and BF2. EA is really starting to get on my nerves though. Charging $70 for the game? Seriously?

Weren't they just rated one of the worst companies in America? They take every chance they can get to get more money from their customers.

I'm probably going to pass on BF4. I'm probably going to pass on all EA games from here on out. While they can put out some games of extremely high potential, their service really gets in the way and they like to nickel and dime you to death.

It would have to be a game I absolutely can't resist, otherwise I think I maybe done with EA.

They definitely should try to emulate Blizzard more.

Ditto. And BF3 was the reason I bought an XBOX after being game free for over a year. It will be hard but it's past the point of ridiculous now.

Who cares that they were rated one of the worst companies in America? They are running a business and their number one goal is to make a profit.

The prices of next-gen games are only going to become more expensive. $70 is only $10 more than your standard triple A next-gen release.

Does everyone forget the price of N64 games, etc?

C'mon people...

And soon it will be $100. It's still a freaking disc. Probably a blu-ray for next gen. PS3 puts games on blu-ray and they are still $60. Just because it is a new console doesn't automatically mean they should jack up the price. It has to peak at some point. If their sales drop enough they will bring it back down.

Yes, every companies #1 goal should be to make a profit. But with EA, their #2, and #3 are to make a profit as well. I bought FIFA street when it first came out. Played it online and realized there was a MAJOR flaw with the game. When playing in online tournaments you play 3 games and then enter the quarter finals. If you win you advance. If you lose you have to start all over. Kids quit at the end of the game and do you know what happens? You have to start the game over. So in essence you can't move on. I've written to EA, I've seen numerous threads on their own forum asking for them to fix it. I took a few months off from the game hoping it would be fixed. I came back a few a weeks ago, nothing has changed. They ONLY care about profit. Do we even need to get into Madden?

Plus, I'd have no problem paying $70 for a video game if it was for the new XBOX. To be jacking up video game prices when a new XBOX is due to come out within the next 2-3 years is ridiculous to me. So when the new system comes out it's just about guaranteed that at a minimum games will be $80.

Honestly, I expect BF4 to be out on the Xbox 720 or Xbox Infinity or whatever they're going to call it.

If it comes out on the 360 I will absolutely get it. I'm actually thinking of getting MOH, which I skipped last year because of the bad reviews, simply to get in on the 2013 fall beta.

I'm expecting BF4 to come out in late October in 2013 but I could see, as Steve mentioned above, it being held off till the holiday season of 2013 to be a game on the new system. In which case I wouldn't be getting it because I won't be getting the new system.

I absolutely love BF3 though. Love it. By far the best FPS I've ever played and there is absolutely nothing that CoD does, or will do, that will even come close.

So for me it's the new Battlefield games or I start looking for a new FPS franchise to try out.

I rent all my games from Gamefly and then buy the ones I really want from there (which is usually only Madden). I've rented and bought Madden when it's released for $40-$45 the last few years.

...but what I do know is that every bad company's goal is to make a bad profit.

Every good company's goal is to create customer value and customer demand in a specifc market or product sector.

Based on that number one mission statement the profits roll in for you afterwards along with customer loyalty.

It's what I feel is the key to good companies staying on top.

As for EA at $70.00 is BF4 worth it in comparison to what is out in the marketplace right now?

I can't answer that cause I don't play video games, but eventually the free market will have an answer.

Then it's worth $70-$80. But even then, trying to figure why is difficult. I must be getting old because if video games become $100+ I'm out. There has to be some ceiling. I don't like playing video games THAT MUCH.
