Won't the game sell out anyway? Whether it's Ohio State or Stanford, the Sugar bowl with Arkansas will sell out. TV ratings is debatable. I personally think Stanford being a higer ranked team can get just as many viewers

How does the bcs selection process work? Does the Sugar bowl have first pick? Every year? does it change?
Its like trying to decipher some code

A few things going on this year
First, lets start with the assumption of the BCS title game that Oregon-Auburn both win and play in the Fiesta Bowl.
The rules state that this year the Rose must take the highest non-automatic qualifier who is in the top 12 of the BCS. That means TCU will go to the Rose to play Wisconsin (Wisconsin being the Big 10 champ and the Big 10 and the Rose Bowl having that tie in)
The next bowl that chooses will be the Sugar Bowl, where Arkansas will end up (Sugar Bowl and the SEC have an unofficial tie in). The Sugar Bowl at this point will have the choice between Ohio State (Big 10 number 2) Stanford (Pac 10 number 2) or the Big East winner (at this point UConn)
If its between those 3 schools to play Arkansas I will bet my life savings that the Sugar Bowl will choose Ohio State, for several reasons
1) Historic power, name school
2) Big 10 school
3) Very large alum base-this would be a sell out and would get TV viewers watching
So the Sugar would be Arkansas vs Ohio State. No way does Ohio State fall past the Sugar
Next the Orange Bowl picks between Stanford and the Big East winner to see who will play the ACC winner (Virginia Tech or FSU)
Right now, the rumor mill has it sounding like the OB would pick the BE winner due to proximity and a fear that Stanford fans would not travel cross country, which would make sense. Handicapping it now, I would say that the ACC winner will play either UConn or WVU.
A VT vs WVU matchup most likely sells out quickly, so that would be a plus. A FSU/VT vs UConn matchup would be a complete dud
Finally the Big 12 winner would play Stanford in the Fiesta bowl.
So here are the matchups if everything, as expected, happens.
BCS Title Game
Oregon vs Auburn
Rose Bowl
Wisconsin vs TCU
Sugar Bowl
Arkansas vs Ohio State
Orange Bowl
FSU/VT vs UConn/WVU
Fiesta Bowl
Stanford vs Big 12 winner
Now what if Oregon or Auburn loses and falls out of the title game?
Scenario if Auburn loses to South Carolina
BCS Title Game
Oregon vs TCU
Rose Bowl
Wisconsin vs Stanford
Sugar Bowl
South Carolina vs Ohio State
Orange Bowl
FSU/VT vs Auburn
Fiesta Bowl
Big East winner vs Big 12 winner
And if Oregon loses to Oregon State
BCS Title Game
Auburn vs TCU
Rose Bowl
Wisconsin vs Oregon
Sugar Bowl
Arkansas vs Ohio State
Orange Bowl
FSU/VT vs UConn/WVU
Fiesta Bowl
Stanford vs Big 12 winner
If both Oregon and Auburn lose, will uh oh
