BCS game: LSU vs OSU

I never saw him at Syracuse, no. But I did see his rookie year with the Colts which I imagine was similar to he senior year at Syracuse.

::shrugs::
He played just like Doucet. Very fast, broke tackles, always on the move, and a nose for the endzone. Not saying Doucet will have the same success as Marvin, but for their college careers it is eerie how much alike they are to me.

Honestly, I don't care about the biggest, strongest, fastest players...I want the hungriest players. I want the players who grew up dirt poor and had to struggle for everything. I want the players who had large families and were lucky to even eat dinner every night (like Irvin). I want players who are so scared to fail that they bust it extremely hard on their own, without any prodding from coaches....simply cause failure cannot be an option.

Thats my argument for him not being "safe" lol. I just don't see where he's the kind of player we should spend a first round pick on, I guess I don't see the Marvin Harrison in him, I see more "Paytrick Craton".*
Hmm...he's absolutely nothing like Crayton.

Harrison is just an average WR when he came into the league. What made him great is the same thing that made Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin great......a work ethic and practice regimen like no other....These guys treated the WR position as if it were a skill like carpentry, blacksmith, glasswork, etc.....They worked hard, practiced hard, studied hard all to perfect their craft and their skill......
And had a great QB throwing to him. I think Doucet would be perfect for Romo.

I hear Sam Hurd has pretty outstanding work ethic. He's certainly not in the same class as those guys. I do like that all reports have Doucet as a hard worker, and I do think he's more talented then Sam Hurd, but I don't see where he's a first round pick if he's projecting as a #2 WR in the NFL like people are suggesting.

It'll be interesting to see if Doucet can crack the first round.

Let me clarify what I mean by #2 WR. In my opinion, there are only about 10 or so #1 receivers in the NFL.

If Anthony Gonzalez and Craig Davis can...

Of course, I thought both of those were bad picks.

Who is playing incredible football as of this moment.

I dunno, I can see it. Both have reliable hands. Neither excels at route running. Both are secondary options and have produced well when in that roll. Both more physical than finesse. Both good blockers. Both around the same size.

What's off with that?

This doesn't describe either of them.

This doesn't describe Doucet at all.

Both around the same size.
Though they have similar measurements in terms of height and weight, they have very different bodies.

And this doesn't even touch on the athletic differences.

I understand what you're saying. More second tier WRs than #2 WRs. And let me clarify some that I don't really dislike Doucet, I just dislike him as a first round pick lol. I do think he's better than Craig Davis though and I expect him to be a first round pick and I expect him to have a better career. However I don't think he has the value to be a first rounder, just like you were saying you thought Gonzalez and Davis were bad choices there.

Last years game imo was an anomaly but it gave the impression that SEC teams are far superior than Big Ten teams. Overall, I think they are but not to the extent that last years game indicated.
LOL. .

I think he's good value at #31. There's no way he'd last very far in the 2nd.

Gholston was a non-factor tonight; I wonder if that will affect his possible entrance into the draft.

So, I think Georgia will be the pre season #1 next year. Anyone else have an opinion?

My opinion is that there shouldn't be a preseason ranking.

Neither do excel at route running. Crayton runs fine routes when finding holes in zones but certainly isnt explosive in creating separation in his routes. A very common criticism of Doucet is the same thing, lack of polish in route running and possible difficulty separating in the NFL.

As far as Doucet being more physical than finesse. Look at the TD he had tonight. And just a few snippets from draft sites, which I really don't like quoting but still...

"Very strong and tough"
"Not afraid to go over the middle and will secure the ball in traffic."
"Well-built athlete with the bulk to handle the physical pounding of the NFL."
"
Excels in space, using his physicality and acceleration to generate consistent positive yards after the catch."

I would say that is physical. Also, again noting his blocking, another sign of physicality.
