To all you Roy haters! Make sure you roast Miles for that terrible drop he had last night. He didn't even have to jump or reach for it, it was right at his chest. Be consistent now you wanna roast Roy you need to do the same for Miles they are Cowboys you need to support them all

I don't see why we have to roast either. Point taken though.

To be consistent, Miles would have to suck out loud for a year and a half for me to bash him the way that I do Roy.

But yea, he should have caught it.

Miles got roasted pretty good last night in the game thread when it happened.

I will be consistent. RW made the wrong read on one play and Tony threw it into his backside. :D ... Hey OP you wanted equal time?

RW seems to be OK when Tony throws it after the cut: ala slants - when
RW can see the ball coming his way for a few nanoseconds. He had a good game last night.

But when Tony has to throw it before RW makes his read/move/cut, it's usually disaster. I still don't like RW and there are going to be lots of wasted plays and miscommunication this year again. Hey ... nearly every receiver looks good on slants and running across the field. Ogletree and Crayton can make that play too.

Just get the ball in Roy's hands.

He is going to see a lot of single coverage and is capable of breaking tackles.

It doesn't have to be a fancy route either. Just get the ball in his hands.

I agree with you. I am a Roy fan and some of these people think everything is his fault when it comes to him and Romo. You know Romo has never been Great at throwing the fade in the endzone. Lack of touch I guess, but that is one of Roys' strengths

If you are going to roast Miles for the drop, might as well roast Witten also for the false start and the deflection.

Roy should start being consistent before you have another "a-ha" moment.
dude the whole team needs to be consistent. Not just Roy, but Miles, Romo, Witten and the O-line as well

Of course. But last night was just one game. It's too soon to start pointing fingers.

I've thought Roy has looked like a weapon all preseason.

He is physically the best he has been for us.

I agree, but that's easier said than done. He and the Cowboys can not only have him run the simpler routes and expect success.

You can't pigeonhole yourself like and make it too easy for the opposition to prepare for. He needs to run the read on the fly type routes some of the time, to keep the defender honest.

OP you're right, just giving you a hard time a while ago about RW.

We all must face it. ... RW, Barber, some older OL guys ... we're going to war with them this season. Their contracts aren't something Jerry wants to eat. And guys waived or traded that we can pick up won't be much of an improvement - and won't be ready to play much for weeks anyway. There won't be any surprise starters or even heavy rotation guys at this point. Overall we're got what we've got and it's probably top-third, top-quarter of the league talentwise. Give our thanks and lets go to DC.

Maybe, maybe not. The shelf's not exactly bare.

I still hold out hope for Ogletree, even with his lack luster camp. He still shows me a lot of ability. He and Dez and a little Crayton can keep Roy on the sidelines. Provided his own play justifies it.

Same for Barron, Davis, Holland and Gurode. That OL play for the 1st 3 series was completely unacceptable. Whiff by Davis, Whiff by Holland, bad snap for Gurode.

F'em! These guys can't get it done, get them out.
I have total confidence in the fact that a starting OL of Free, Bright, Costa, Gurode and Young could have played just as poorly on our 1st 3 series.

You absolutely can have him run simple stuff. Wes Welker hardly runs more than drags and curls and he's one of the most effective players in the league.

Overthinking pass routes are dangerous, especially when you have a guy like RW who isn't going to get a ton of separation because he's just not that quick. He needs to be looking at Romo earlier and then making a play on the ball - he's not effective at those complex timing routes.

exactly what hagman said in a reply to this, austin will have to do that for alot longer than one simple drop

I'm no expert. But I would think a guy like Welker working in the slot would run mostly option type routes. Stuff that changes on the run contingent on the coverage he seeing. Those drags and curls may look simple to us.

If we have to have a WR on the field with little ability to read coverages, someone who pretty much has to run a called route.......
well I think our rookie Dez Bryant can handle that.
And probably make a ton more plays on ability alone than Roy.
