Be honest, after the first 4 plays against the Rams, what were you thinking?

A reminder about the first 4 plays of the game:
  • 1st & 10 at DAL 25

    (15:00 - 1st) (Shotgun) D.Prescott sacked at DAL 20 for -5 yards (M.Hoecht).
  • 2nd & 15 at DAL 20

    (14:29 - 1st) (Shotgun) T.Pollard up the middle to DAL 24 for 4 yards (B.Young).
  • 3rd & 11 at DAL 24

    (13:46 - 1st) (Shotgun) D.Prescott sacked at DAL 20 for -4 yards (B.Young). PENALTY on LA-Q.Lake, Illegal Contact, 6 yards, enforced at DAL 24 - No Play.
  • 1st & 10 at DAL 30

    (13:23 - 1st) D.Prescott sacked at DAL 23 for -7 yards (A.Donald).

I was thinking the game was going to be ugly:

3 pass plays, 3 sacks.
This is ugly so far.

And not one of those sacks were "coverage sacks". The OLine was getting abused out there.

Yet somehow after those first 4 plays, Dak kept slinging it around, to his Top-3 WRs, Lamb, Gallup, Cooks, and all converting 1st Downs. That was until one of the TEs ACTUALLY held on to a pass for a TD.

I never would have guessed a blowout win after seeing how bad it looked after the first 4 plays.

But that is why you play the games.
I was thinking, imagine what this will look like against a real pass rush next week in Philly....

They had zero sacks against Howell who is one of the most sacked qbs. They are paper tigers.

After they got themselves correct I was thinking that was one helluva adjustment,,, glad they showed some semblance of competency and fixed it.

Dak was bailed out by a facemask that was ticky tacky call. But Dallas had those same touchy calls go against their defense in 49ers game. But that game could of been very different had the Cowboys had to punt after that. Daks confidence would of been in the toilet. I know he didn't have much time but the dam fool wouldn't throw the ball away. Freaking idiot!

I was still furious at that 2nd and 15 run.

When you get yourself into 2nd and 15, you've forfeited your right to run the ball.

I think that MM and Dan Quinn are better at making adjustments quickly than the Clapper and his coaching clan was. I don't panic anymore when we suck at the beginning of games. This coaching staff seems to be on top of things, relatively speaking.

I immediately thought that similarly to the “Chaz Green Game” this one would go down as the “Chuma Edoga Game”. I am so glad I was wrong.

Fortunately for me my ISP was acting up so I couldn't get connected to my streaming service until the Cowboys were already across midfield. So I never saw those first few plays until they showed the replays in the game recap. When I did see them I thought OMG how did they climb out of that hole?

I was thinking not having Tyron down the stretch would be bad
Better get use to it. We need to draft or try to find his replacement next year. The dude is done. Never seen a offensive lineman so injury prone. The guy his back and neck issues. Not a good thing for his position.

Yea I wish they would have used the 2nd round pick this year instead of on a TE…

That third down penalty changed the ENTIRE complexion of the game. We had our way with their offense but tbh, we had the momentum and were afforded the chance to dictate with an early lead. I thought to myself, we're in a dogfight like the Chargers game. I think the coaches understand who we are with a lead and called aggressive for a fast start. Still disturbed by our pass/run blocking.

Our Oline needs to step it up from the very first play. Out interior Oline needs to anchor down, while our edges need to keep Dak protected long enough from edge rushers. Give Dak 3 seconds on average, he will carve you up. Need our WRs to get open early and often as well. A big plus would be to get the running game going even if it's outside running. If it struggles, get back to the pass. Allow the pass to open up the run. That Eagles front 7 is good. Use their strength against them. Our Oline needs to take it to them and beat them at the line of scrimmage. That will be key.
Id be happy if he had 2 clean seconds without having a defender in his face already. Chuma got better as the game went along and they got things going but man did it look ugly to start.

AFter the first sack, I was thinking someone on the OL needs to punch Dak in the mouth until he agrees to start throwing the ball away. After the other sacks, I think they got their point acrossed and started playing.

After the first few plays I was thinking we were going to be on the tail end of a blowout. In all the years I’ve watched the Cowboys I can’t remember them starting off that poorly and ending up winning in a blowout.
