Who do I want?
Position-wise, it has to be a defensive end, a War Daddy. Why? Because a corner is not going to ail what this team needs. Our secondary was pretty good last year, but we couldn't get the most of it because we didn't have a consistent pass rusher. You can draft Deion Sanders, but if you don't have a pass rush, even Deion can't cover forever.
And with this being a very deep draft and us having picked a 6th-round jewel in Anthony Brown, I'd go defensive end. Besides, we haven't had much luck with defensive ends in the latter rounds like we have corners (Scandrick, Brown, as examples).
Having identified the position, and being realistic (Myles Garrett is not dropping to #28), these are who I want:
Derek Barnett
Charles Harris (we don't need him as a run stopper. We have enough of those. We need him as a pass rusher)
T.J. Watt (the knees concern me, but Sean Lee had knee problems too, and he seems to have recovered)
Those are the only three I'd go with in the first round at #28. I like high-motor, all-out-effort guys. You need that trait near the end of a game. I'd take a trade down and maybe pick up Taco Charlton. But I'm not as high on him.
But the guy who I REALLY want, who just might be there, though I doubt it, is ... Reuben Foster! I don't believe he has a drug problem. And he is one of the top defensive players in this draft, if not the top. I'd roll the dice on him because I believe he'll be an impact player right out of the gates.
