The NFL Network reports Chicago Bears DL Tommie Harris feels the defense has the capabilities to be the best in the league and predicts the team going to the Super Bowl.

Why should a member of the Bears feel any different? I would hate to have a guy on the team whose goals were not lofty.

I know, right? Can you imagine if he said,

"I really feel our team is going to suck this year just like last season. Yeah, we're pretty much screwed at nearly every position, and both of our QBs are talentless losers."

I'm sure his Bear teammates and Bear fans would have loved that. :laugh2:

As they say every team has a chance in July. The way the NFL is these days it is hard to know who is going to jump up and make a run. While I don't think the Bears have a great chance they do have a chance.

Very true. Before the beginning of last season, they had Chicago ranked like 5th or 6th in the NFL, and this year they've pretty much been written off. On any given Sunday, anything can happen, and any team can win. Just look at the Giants

No QB, Kevin Jones (Whose not a promising back) and a rookie rb, and just as important as no QB...NO WR's to throw the ball to even if they had a QB.

They might wind up retooled and very good on defense but unless they're good enough to hold opponents to 10-13 points every single week they're in for a long year cause their offense isn't going to be able to score.

It's not just the poor play of their QBs, but also the poor play of their OL, lack of decent WRs & no running game. They've also got a GM & a head coach who don't seem to realize how bad the offense really is.

The Bears should think about going 8-8 and being at least a .500 team before they think about the playoffs let alone the super bowl.

well to give them credit, their defense actually still is really good they were just ridiculously injured last year. Still, don't see them making the superbowl in the NFC.

That was my first thought. But Chicago can be a very good team. They need their QB to play well enough and to play mistake free ball. If NYG can do it then why not them. I don't feel they are quite as good as the Giants but not far behind.

Why not?

Because...

a) They have no quarterbacks

b) They have no receivers

c) They have no running backs

Other than that, they should be just fine! :LOL

The giants winning the superbowl was a fluke and there is no way that the Bears win the superbowl. They won't win their own division because the Vikes or GB will win it and they probably won't even get a wildcard. If they finish 8-8 they will be lucky.

Well, I'd agree with all that except you can't say someone won't be in the SB. NY started 0-2 and almost lost 3 or 4. NO and Chi have surprised lately. The Bears have a very good D. If they get breaks, stay injury free (relatively speaking), get decent play from Orton or whomever which is possible albeit not that likely, and play solid ball they will be in a lot of games esp at home.

That will be a strong division this year IMO. Even Det could make the playoffs. They could also take a dump although its hard to see the Vikes or GB stinking it up too much. The Vikings have an unproven QB although Jackson is much better than it seems most give him credit for. And GB supposedly will have a less talented 'Romo' taking over this year. All those teams have major holes.

I'd put the Vikes closer to a NFCC game than the others assuming Favre doesn't play but I think NO, maybe TB, the Giants, and the Seahawks as favored over them not to mention the Cowboys. Maybe even Philly.
