WR Booker headed back to Bears
By Vaughn McClure
Tribune staff reporter

March 4, 2008, 9:12 PM CST

Wide receiver Marty Booker is returning for a second stint with the Bears after agreeing to a two-year contract on Tuesday. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Booker was a third-round draft pick of the Bears in 1999 but was traded to the Dolphins in 2004 for defensive end Adewale Ogunleye and a third-round pick (linebacker Channing Crowder).

Booker, who turns 32 on July 31, probably has at least a couple good years left in him despite being released by Miami. His production tailed off this past season with just 50 catches for 556 yards and one touchdown. But Miami was the fifth-worst offensive team in the league and Booker was the team's leading receiver.

That's about the end gate for FA WRs. Time to look at the draft. Hardy @ #28?

To me that is great news. I am so glad all the names are off the market. this team has a great opportunity to really continue the building that has been going on for three years.

and with the draft its all cap friendly and the players should improve week by week and year by year.

I love it. I am so happy with our front office for this year and last.

They never mentioned that travesty of a QB situation they had last year in Miami... Not fair for McClure to label Booker with that glaring weakness.

OMG We Just lost our last oppurtunity to be any good this year. Jerry Jones has destroyed our team and we have no chance to win next year.

First Berrian then Moss now this. Were hosed.

I don't get why they would release Muhammed and then sign Booker.

Maybe they thought they were actually resigning Muhammad and can't tell them apart?
