So many variables at play to determine how this trade plays out. Looks great for the Bears to add all those pieces around what they think is their franchise QB but what if he's not? What if you look back on this in 5 years and see the Bears trade out of a legit franchise QB to build a supporting cast around one that isn't? Then it doesn't look so good.
Whoever is right on their QB wins the trade. If it's both or neither then it's a wash.
I think that would fall on their scouting department in some ways.
if they believe what they have in fields is better than the top QBs in this draft then why not keep the better player and build around him.
If they believe what they have in Fields is not as good as the top QBs in this draft...They could easily trade up a few spots in this draft to get one of the other two they like and still come out ahead.
They also have the option of building more for their team in this years draft by trading down and if they are not completely happy with Fields but also not in love with the top QBs in this draft they will have two first round picks next year as ammo to go after a QB in the draft if need be,
I have a feeling that if there was a Luck or Lawrence in this draft they would not be trading down
