He mentioned he was excited to be somewhere that is all about football. This is bigger than Garrett, which I want gone.

The culture of accountability and peaking order of authority is missing in Dallas. We are the Hollywood Cowboys with no substance.

We need a coach with Full Authority and most importantly he must be strong-willed enough to check Jerry. Jimmy not allowing Jerry to parade Sheiks through the lockerroom makes more sense now than ever to me.

Jerry conceded power to Parcells to build the new stadium. Will he do it now to restore the greatness of the franchise?

He wasn't wrong. We don't have many football players. We have a bunch of wanna-be celebrities.

Could a "real coach" do something with this roster? Would a short rebuild (2 years +/-) be necessary to compete at a high level?

Culture change is needed, that's all I know. Too many years of expecting to win vs being prepared to win. Garrett has shown over and over again he needs to have the best roster in football to be moderately successful and cannot overcome any of his better players being out.

Jerry needs to change or step aside for there to be a real, lasting culture change. I don't think that's happening, sadly. What we can hope for is a new HC that can at least temporarily fix things.

Absolutely, that's why as i dont like and have never liked JG as our head coach I dont know what coach could succeed with the structure that's in place.

Actually I do know what kind of coach, Bill B, Haubaugh, Reid, and Payton but JJ is so determined to be the one that gets the credit for winning that he'd be afraid to hire one of those types.

JJ wants to win more than anyone, it's just not the Superbowl, it's the battle for "football guy" credibility.

People are finally seeing it for what it is. Garrett is a problem, no doubt, but when your entire locker room is a selfish, egotistical, mindless, cancerous bubble, your team isn’t going to do much. You won’t win games where players are more concerned with stats, Instagram likes, money, fame, fashion, and clubs instead of football. This team is done. Cut the roster.

Hats off to tunahelper for nailing down a big part of the Cowboys' problem. Jerry's stubborn reluctance to concede a functional part of the power to his subordinates, such as his head coach, is a problem that must be addressed. If he really expects to hire a HC worth his salt, he firstly needs to allow his HC to wield the authority to choose his own assistants.

After having done that, applying the scheme that best suits his philosophy is surely a must. Additionally, serving as a "yes" man isn't in the best interest of the head coach, either. The players are far more likely to respect a HC that's his own man, rather than someone who "comforts" his boss by preening his highly over-inflated ego. I'll bet JG was and still is, very adept at that maneuver. ;)

You cant cut all the players because of a culture that allows those things to happen. We have to hope that JJ is tired of trying it his way and allows someone with skins on the wall to set the culture and be the only authority the players know.

These are grown men. Take some accountability. I realize that the culture is that “JG and JJ are pushovers so we can do whatever we want” from the players, but have they not seen that that has failed this season? Or do they just not care because they are achieving their ultimate goal, which is running the playground (the Cowboys franchise)? Is winning not important to them? The players allow this culture to happen. Look at the Ravens. Harbaugh from the Ravens literally said he let’s his players do whatever they want, and look at them. They are succeeding because they are a mature team focused on football and winning. The same cannot be said for us. Our players aren’t like that. Embarrassing, right? I am beginning it despise this team. I still want JJ to cut and fire this roster and coaching staff.

When Jimmy was here he succeeded because he controlled the culture and the players knew what would happened if they crossed him. Harbaugh may allow his players to "run" the locker room but he's not far away if it gets out of hand.

The coach has to set the expectations and the consequences of not meeting them. When they are not met then follow though with discipline. When was the last time that has happened in Dallas?

I agree with you 100% but like I said, you’d expect 20-30 year old’s to have a little more accountability, responsibility, and respect than that. It’s ridiculous, I understand this coaching has played a large hand in what is going on, but this is exactly what the players are getting away with. Accountability. As long as we keep blaming the coaching, the cycle will continue to repeat.

Since old jerrah ran off tuna after getting the new mall (not a stadium).

This plague of Jerry Jones and his negative influence on the organization's football operations has been a well documented problem for decades. This crap has been going on long before Beasley arrived. It drove Jimmy Johnson and Parcells away from the team and had us fans suffer through a litany of poor coaching, irresponsible salary cap management and disastrous drafts. It's Jerry's grasp for the spotlight that has killed this team.

The players are victims much like the fans. They get caught up in the glitz and glamour of Cowboys tradition, top salaries, first rate facilities and relaxed culture. Jerry does't hire anyone that is going to buck his system. Look at the line of coaches the past 25 years. Except for Parcells, all happy to be there and probably not worthy from a football standpoint. I include Switzer in the grouping, he won on momentum not any value added and it quickly evaporated.

Keep in mind, most players hate playing for Belichick but respect him and look back with admiration on their time in NE. I suspect for Cowboys players, the feeling is reversed.

At my job when new workers come in we put them with someone that been there for awhile (3 months). If we put the with someone that's not motivated, takes shortcuts, or has a bad attitude (cowboys), it's more likely that the new employee will have some of the same traits.
If we put them with a hard working, attention to detailed, good attitude worker (Patriots) they will more likely have those traits.
