As everybody knows, I have been one of Garrett's harshest critics. I stated many times that "Tecmo" needed to be fired along with Wade.

However, I was just now able to watch the entire video of Garrett's presser and I was very impressed with the way he handled himself and how he was able to handle the media.

It really does sound like he is going to have a lot harder practices and start holding players accountable. It will be very interesting the first time somebody is clearly loafing in a game, will he be benched or released to send a message???

I know posters will still say that Jerry has all the power, but what if Jerry gave Garrett the power to bench players that are loafing it??? The fact that the players dont seem overly happy with Garrett being the HC also tells me that things might be different. I mean, if nothing is going to change then why would the players not want Garrett to be the HC???

Now I am not in love with the guy like Hostile is, but I am just saying that it is possible that things can be different under Garrett compared to Wade. So I could be wrong about the guy, maybe he is a better HC than coordinator.

I am at least willing to keep an open mind during these last 8 games, so we will see what happens............

He better channel Jimmy Johnson practices and make sure they practice in pads five days a weeks.

I am willing to give him a chance. Wiping the slate clean. I liked his press conference too. Sounded very strong and confident. I might actually start listening live to the press conferences religiously like i used to back in the Parcell days. That said, i would love for the Cowboys to beat the Giants this weekend.

From day one as a cowboys coach Garrett was able to handle himself very well in front of the media or represent himself in general.

I think that is a big reason why people think he is a good OC or may be a good HC. He nows how to talk and give reasons that seem logical. To put in in others words: He sounds and looks good in front of the camera.

But talking isn't everthing. Making logical guesses doesn't win any games. I for myself try to judge Garrett by the way he acts at game time: Is he able to put up a good game plan, is he able to use players up to their strenghts, is he able to adjust at game time etc...

When it comes to those questions he seems not even mediocre to me. He is a talker not a coordinatror. To me he really should have been fired first not Wade because he is the weak link in our team when it comes to coaching. The problems with the offens linger now for about 2 years. The defense played well except for 2-3 games now.

But then for our situation i think Garrett is a good choice at head coach. Just because he knows how to talk, how to represent his thing. I think with those attributes he has all the "tools" to convince JJ to go in his (Garretts) direction. If this will happen we will be a much better football team just because decissions will be based on football knowledge and not on JJ's (knowledge - whatever that knowledge is).

But to let that idea work Garrett should not be the OC also. He should have a DC and a seperate OC and should listen to them. I see his primary role to listen to them and convince JJ to go in their direction (personal etc...). I could see that working out. Garrett again involved in OC duties ? We will have the same "desaster" at offense like we had for the last 2 seasons.

So Jerry blew it again. He should have hired Garrett for a PR position.

Jerry blew nothing. This to me was a great move by him.

To me that move showes that for Jerry it is clear that Garrett is not the answer at HC. So he basically showed him that by promoting him to a position where everbody knows that succeeding right now is impossible and that Jerry will certainly look for a new HC in 2011.

I am sure that Garrett already figured that out. I am just curious how he will handle himself in public knowing that he was basically fired.

This is the best choice Jerry could make in the given situation.

I don't think Garrett would have taken this position and difficult situation if this were the case. I do believe the interim coach is a test that actually goes beyond wins and losses. If Garrett can get this team to fundamentally and consistently perform up to their abilities, let alone win, he could keep the job - and deservingly so.

JG should have been named Head Coach after Parcells left. It couldn't have been any worse. I don't know how he's going to succeed with the team he has now. He has no Romo and the team has a bunch of quitters on it.

It's got to be wins and and losses. I grew up watching Landry when a season that you didn't at least make it to the conference championship was a disapointment. The Cowboys have have become the Detroit Lions and until they change that I'm not very interested.

No one knows for sure how the story will end. Three coaches left the Cowboys in the last few years and all are successful and one is the super bowl winning coach of last year. Let's let this thing play out and see what happens.

For goodness sakes give the man a chance. He stepped into a pile of chicken poo. Lets see if he can make some soup out of it.

You must be dizzy from all that spinning. That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard on this forum in the last 3 minutes. :D

Why shouldn't he taken the job ?

You answered it yourself. It's the only chance he has got if he wants to stay with the franchise.

If he hadn't taken it Jerry would have had to hire another HC. Most people think that the next HC will be a offensive minded coach and so do i. Most HC assemble their own staff. So Long term (next offseason) Garrett would have been fired anyway. So this is the only choice he (Garrett) had. This is not picking the best opportunity for Garrett. Garretts time of getting a good job are long gone. So for Garrett this is a nothing to lose situation.

PS: I don't think that JJ told him that he will get fired after the season. JJ is a "loyal" owner and so of course will give Garrett the feeling that he is interessted in him. WhĂ˝ kill a possibility before it even took place ?

You are right. And unless you learn how to post some arguments i think i will die stupid. Mr. Master-Fortuneteller.

I would love to handle some of these guys Jimmy style. Bench Mike Jenkins, cut Leonard Davis unless they improve next week

Who did Jimmy cut midseason that approached the level of cutting Davis? Surely you aren't referring to Curvin Richards are you?
