1991 Chiefs ( swept Raiders 24-21 and 27-21. Won wildcard game 10-6)
1992 Chiefs (swept Chargers 24-10 and 16-14. Lost wildcard game 17-0)
1993 Raiders (swept Broncos 23-20, 33-30 won wildcard game 42-21)
1994 Vikings (swept Bears 42-12 and 33-27. Lost wildcard game 33-18)
1994 Steelers (swept Browns 17-10 and 17-7. Won divisional playoffs 29-9)
1997 Patriots (swept Dolphins 27-24 and 14-12. Won wildcard game 17-3)
1997 Packers (swept Bucs 21-16 and 17-6. Won divisional playoffs 21-7)
1999 Titans (swept Jaguars 20-19 and 41-14. Won AFCCG 33-14)
2000 Giants (swept Eagles 33-18 and 24-7. Won divisional playoff 20-10)
2002 Steelers (swept the Browns 16-13 and 23-20 won wc game 36-33)
2004 Rams (swept Seahawks 33-27 and 23-12. Won wc game 27-20)
2004 Packers (swept Vikings 34-31 and 34-31. Lost wc game 31-17)

2008 Steelers (swept Ravens 23-20 and 13-9. Won AFCCG 23-14)

Overall, teams with an opportunity for a three game sweep are 12-6 in NFL history. That is they have a 66% winning pct. Fears of beating a team three times in a season are unjustified imo, and is probably a residual from two years ago.

Let's beat the Eagles today. And do it again next weekend!:eagles:

Hey all, long time lurker, first time poster.....good information and encouraging.....

What I am curious about is a history of back to back games at home vs. same team two weeks in a row...that is... How do teams who win their final regular season game - at home - fare in a follow up game one week later - at home - vs. the same team they beat the week before?

Thoughts?

...and from 1998. This particular issue seem to be specific to the Cowboys.

1988 Browns- lost to Oilers
1993 Lions- lost to Packers
1993 Raiders beat Broncos

so, 1-2 This is a pretty rare occurrence.

The only thing is I think this Eagles team is a little more dangerous then most of those teams facing the prospect of getting swept. That's what scares me. I don't really think the Eagles have a team that is capable of making the run for a Super Bowl, but they are dangerous as heck in any given game.

Maybe.

But hey a home playoff game is better than going into Minnesota IMO.

What happens in previous seasons has no bearing on this season, this team and against this foe.
