100%, always worth experimenting and finding ways to get the best players on the field. I still think Tyler Smith is the best LT on the roster right now, but that's a totally different discussion, lol.

I always thought Tyler Smith should lock down LT he’s the best linemen in Dallas and proved he can play the position .

Becton is a man, guyton is a little boy. Big difference. Guyton needs to get his mind.right if he wants to become anything in this league.

Guyton has the size and strength to be very effective at G . Might limit his penalties at that position You’re absolutely right he is a first round NFL pick . Have a successful next three yrs your second contract is a lottery win sets you up . Has to mature . MM benched him down the stretch which didn’t help .

If Schottenheimer or whoever gets the job I would want a complete asst coach house cleaning and most definitely new position coaches everywhere.

All the speculation about moving Guyton started at the draft. What people need to realize is that Jerry drafted him to replace Tyron. He isn't moving inside, to the right side or anywhere. What Guyton needs is a full off season to work on his body and learn the NFL game. He needs all the OTA's and mini camps and training camp. He needs reps in preseason. Then let's see what September brings. My guess we see a much better version than what we saw down the stretch.
Exactly he's a kid he needs to put on his man weight and his man strength.
Offensive lineman don't always come out of college at full power they need a couple years to develop

I'm torn on the idea. I never hate looking for ways to set players up to have more success, but my big issue with Guyton this year is that he just looked like he was not physically ready for the NFL. Hes a massive human being, but I don't think his size really translated into NFL caliber strength which could be even more exposed at guard. I think a lot of his technique and penalty issues seem to come from him cheating and leaning because he was so vulnerable to power rushers on the edge, which gets him off balance. Plus the Cowboys seem to have several options for the inside positions as is. I'd love to see true competition for the Tackle spots between Steele/Richards/Guyton.

Those are all good points . Have a real competition based on talent not contract for two tackle spots plus the RG spot . Hoffman needs to be in the mix he plays with more edge than any linemen .

Both # 1’s with Becton drafted much higher . A bust by any measure with the Jets he gets to the Eagles playing under the top OL coach in the NFL he’s moved inside to guard and the dude fits right in with that unit.

Guyton doesn’t necessarily have a sack problem at Tackle he seems to have an NFL referee has your number problem . From OTA’s Mini camps training camp it’s 9 months until the opener .

How about moving Guyton inside with Smith and Beebe that’s a nice between the tackles unit for the running game not to mention interior protection . Move Asim Richards to LT see exactly what he looks like as a starter . Takes LT pressure off Guyton.
Guyton does not a guard type body. He is tall and lean. Becton is tall but not lean.

I think Guyton's problem is he needs to get stronger in the upper body. He is not strong enough to use his arms to keep rushers off him. Moving him inside against DT will be worse for him. He need to work hard this offseason to add some muscle and get stronger. If he does that I think he will be fine at LT. If he is not willing to work hard then he will be a bust.

btw, I don't think Becton's issue was ever that he couldn't play. I think his problem was he couldn't stay healthy.

Wait did we fire Solari? I hope we did.
I hear a lot of criticism about Solari that I don't understand.
  1. He's not the run game coordinator, just the OL coach.
  2. Why are people so excited about the play of our undrafted players, TJ Bass and Hoffman. Someone developed them quickly, or do we think they were just diamonds in the rough who should have been drafted on day 2. Did he have no impact on Beebe's successful transition to Center? Was that just his mom catching snaps in the yard that did it? Did Tyler Smith, our new great thing on the OL, the #1 draft pick that was criticized often because of his penalties, etc, did he just become what he is now on his own?
I am not a fan of our current running scheme or play design or play calling, but from what I understand, that is the job of the OC. As a position coach, I can't see all these young guys, and especially the undrafted guys, performing so admirably and not assume the OL coach deserves some credit for that.

I tend to agree. There seems to be a lot of excitement about the development of young guys drafted in the 3rd round or later yet 80% of fans are calling out the position coach. I get there were some issues, but how much of that is Zach Martin has just hit a wall, Steele has never been very good in pass pro, and Guyton just wasn't ready for a full time NFL gig? Tyler Smith has developed nicely. Beebe had about as good of a rookie year as you'd expect for a 3rd rounder changing positions. Bass and Hoffman flashed upside. I'd even argue Richards showed some upside, although it was in pretty limited snaps.

Guyton has an experience problem. He barely played any LT in college. We need to unload Steele and put on the right side.
