Man...they beat one team in the Jets and now they will make a super bowl run if the right things happen that get them in the playoffs. So they finally won a game at home against an 8 win Jets team and now they are super bowl bound and nobody wants to play them? Delusional. I hope the Jets win and we can stomp their brains out on Saturday to clinch our spot and knock them out as well. For a team that has never won a Super Bowl, they sure do fancy themselves as one of the great NFL franchises ever.

Philly fans are very good entertainment. Similar to a giant group of virgins pursuing a hot girl.

Delusional? Sounds to me like they are in the perfect frame of mind for this time of year.

If our roles were reversed, we would likely hear similar rhetoric from this board.

If we were 6-8 and 2-2 in our last four, this board would be in full-on meltdown mode, wanting to fire it's coach and stage a boycott of the Cowboys until Jerry sells the team. We just saw it after back-to-back last play losses in AZ and v. NY. There's no way our fans would be behind a 6-8 team that needed to win out in order to back into the post season.

Um, how is winning out "backing into" the post season?

If our Boys take care of business than Philly fans will be back in the streets protesting for Reid to get fired. So will the Cowboys please crush Philly's playoff hopes?

We all want the Jets to win, but there is a silver lining if the Giants win: it eliminates the Eagles.

Their season may end as they are warming up to play the Cowboys. That should, if anything, give the Cowboys an advantage. And we need all the help we can get, because I don't think we beat them otherwise.

Of course, the best case scenario is that the Jets win and we claim the division title against the Eagles. But I think we are much more likely to beat them if they have nothing to play for.

Whatever happens, Saturday will be an interesting day.

Believe it or not, this board is not a monolithic entity. It's full of diverse and conflicting opinions.

Consequently, rather than stating "we would likely hear similar rhetoric from this board," I should've said, "we would likely hear similar rhetoric from certain elements on this board."

There's plenty of posters like you described above around here, and there's plenty of posters like you around here. It's all good. It's what drives discussion.

You're not reading the same board I am. After every win, there's tons of discussion on here about how we can go on a run, we can beat anyone, the SB is within our grasp. Heck, when we were 1-5 last year, lots of people here were talking playoffs.

I agree. Nobody on this board would be talking Super Bowl run. Many fans want Garrett gone now; I can only imagine how much worse the sentiment would be if the Cowboys were 6-8.

I love hearing that. Their tears of disappointment will be SO delicious.

^This^

And the prevailing voice is based upon whether the team won or lost their last game. Since we beat the Bucs this week, the realists are in hiding. But prior to that game they ruled the board since we'd just lost to the Giants.

Yes there is both positive and negative discussion. Nobody will deny that. But if we lose to the Eagles on Saturday this board will be dominated with threads of how bad the team sucks, Garrett needs to be fired, Jones needs to quit, etc... rather than how to beat the Giants and win the division.

By backing in, I was referring to needing not just to win out, but needing other teams to lose so that we could qualify. Not sure what the actual definition is. It could also be losing your last game or games and qualifying anyway. But you get the point.

I'm not one to say we're likely to go on a Superbowl run when we're sitting at 6-8. The best I would say is I hope we play well and get lucky enough to qualify and see what happens. But you're right that there probably are posters here who say that. There are posters here who will literally say anything.

But the prevailing board opinion if our situation and the Eagles' were reversed would be very, very gloomy.

I guess I'm not. Who's talking Superbowl? Even Hos is praying things break right and we sneak into the NFCCG.

And at 1-5 last year, I recall the mood around here as stunned, abject, misery. If anybody mentioned 'playoffs' it was in a context of 'if we were to fix this thing overnight, we'd need to go 9-1 to have a legitimate shot at the playoffs.' Sorry, but there weren't lots of people expecting 9-1 back in week 7 last year.

I get the point, but I think winning your final two games and getting in, despite needing help from other teams, is far different than losing your last one or two games and getting in anyway. It's like night and day.

If a team wins its final two games, especially against divisional rivals, it is not backing into anything, regardless of what transpires in other games. They would be coming into the playoffs with a lot of momentum and would be a very dangerous team IMO. Fortunately, I think the same holds true for the Cowboys. They win these final two games under these circumstances, look out, because they are going to be a tough out.

if the giants win it doesn't matter what we do against the eagles. so them giving up on the game doesn't matter.
