Agreed.. in fact I see no reason why this offense can't be top 5 as well if Moore and Dak can continue the balanced approach that not only won us 4 games but damn near brought us back in this last one. That 15 play 93 yard drive featuring 7 runs and 8 passes was how we should play offense for the rest of the season. To hell with what "the defense gives you." Take what you want.. The Eagles front was as good as any we will see all year yet we rammed it up their arses for 134 yards and over 5 yards a pop. If we take nothing else away from this game it needs to be that we can run the ball when we really want to and commit to it no matter who the opponent is. Respect them.. but no need to fear them and not even TRY running the ball as we have done all too often.
Dak is good. Hopefully he will return to the top 5 quarterback that he was at the beginning of last season before he hurt his calf. Kellen needs to lean on the run game then let Dak cook. Imagine the play action passes with Dak throwing the football.

franchising him was moronic. it's just amplified by how easily he's being replaced. shoulda let him walk and kept coop another year

You have to make those decisions before you have any other answers. We couldn't just let our only proven TE walk. It seems unfortunate now that you have some promising youngsters but it's just a part of the business. I will definitely not complain about a franchise tag when the alternative could have been a long term mistake.

Coop is a whole different matter.

Yeah I had no problem with the tag because I felt you needed a vet especially when Coop left. Schultz just isn't right.

Schultz will take home about 7 million bucks this year after taxes.. More than enough for him to enjoy his life post football .. I mean the dude graduated from Stanford so I expect him to be able to manage his finances. Even if he doesn't re-sign with the Cowboys I would expect him to maintain a home in Dallas.. you know to avoid state income tax as best he can. He's not going to get top TE money after this season.. but the front office did the right thing by not rolling the dice on the draft with the tag.

And what if the draft doesn't fall your way? You counting on McKeon and an undrafted FA or somebody off the street?

personally yes. i mean we drafted ferguson in the fourth and hendershot was an udfa.

i understand that logic i just don’t agree. i felt the same prior to drafting the two. i’d have been fine elevating mckeon or signing an also ran

I felt Ferguson had a good game as well as Hendershot now the hard part playing good ball week to week. I have no issue with these guys replacing Shultz at the end of the season but I don't see that happening based on 1 or 2 games. TE on this team is important and we need to see production out of TE regularly

Hendershot and Ferguson kinda showed up again.. I hope Schultz is investing his 11 million well because it's the last big money he's going to see. These kids have really come in and done a nice job. The move Ferguson put on Gardner-Johnson for his score was beautiful to watch. I think both these kids have already surpassed Schultz. Yes he has more knowledge of the offense.. but these kids are play makers and while neither of them is a "great" blocker.. they're already better at it than Schultz.

Hendershot is committing flags and penalties on a weekly basis. ..and he hasn't gain consistency with in-line blocking. He's not gonna be that kind of in-line player.
Ferguson is giving us the edge sustain blocking Schultz cannot. I'm not close to be sold on him as a receiver yet.

i'd have to see if he has separation skills vs single coverage to create mismatches and headaches to opposing teams in the pass game.
And i'm wanting to see something more than just roll outs on these bootlegs,

For now its' a matter of us seeing something in the pass game..,.rather than nuthin' with Schultz.

Oh 100% agree.. a lil somethin is better than nothin.. The kids are far from perfect but I like what I've seen to this point and I like the upside. I think as a tandem they have a chance to be borderline special. I'm trying not to fast forward through a couple of seasons but I am really excited to see what they look like with a couple of years in the offense and in the offseason programs under their belts.

I was happy to see our TE's do well last night. Not sure why they waited till the 2nd half to start using them appropriately, but I'm glad they finally did.
Seems like Rush doesn't throw to TEs much. I've noticed that throughout his 5 games.

Dak will utilize TEs so I expect both rookie TEs to produce more as the season goes on

I am with you.
Trade Shultz and play the Rooks.
They are good and cheap.

For as much crap as this forum gives Jerry, placing the franchise tag on Schultz and not overpaying him seems to be a terrific move. Gave us TE insurance this year and next year you let Schultz walk and spend that money on other Cowboys free agents that you want to retain and roll with Ferguson and Hendershot.
Even those blind squirrels fins nuts!

The offense has been so much more productive with the 2 young guys sans Schultz. I hope it continues with Dak.

Him being tagged was more about losing Coop than retaining Schultz. I wasn't thrilled with any of it, but I wasn’t upset to keep him another season either. Although I wanted him held accountable for his weak blocking.

They both have real potential and are already past Shultz imo.

Coop got sideways with the owner for not going all in and getting you know what.. I wish we could have kept him.. but I understand not wanting to push your chips in on a guy who won't do the same for you.. You got Zeke out there playing on one leg and this dude won't get a (that thing we can't talk about) that 5 billion people done got already...

The thing that the company never actually tested to see if it stopped the spread. It doesn't seem unreasonable to refuse. Playing hurt or not training/practicing hard are a different story.

Singleshot has serious potential.

DRAFT MIKE MEYER!!!!! He would take this offense over the top. Seriously.
