how desperate were you for news on your favorite team, for scores, draft information, trade theories, etc.
I got one of the very first satellite dishes to watch the NFL. The first game they were setting up the dish, was the Los Angeles Rams playing Green Bay and the Packers were down 21-0 at halftime and they finally got me a picture as the teams were running off for haltime. The Packers came back and won that game and I was euphoric. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Before that time tho, I had to result to all kind of things to get the scores. I would call the ticket office during the game several times to get a score update. Remember this was in the 70s when the Packers absolutely sucked. Then a few years later, 900 numbers came out with updated scores and Mel Kipers draft updates and football news. My phone bill during those years was pretty high and the wife would call and check the number on occassion just to make sure they were talking football and nobody named Lisa was talking heavy on the phone. (I heard things like that existed many years ago)
I was always jealous of the locals who could watch their favorite team any time they wanted. In fact, if I had been a Cowboy fan I could have seen every Dallas game as they were on the local CBS channel every week.
Sooooo, how desparate were you as a fan to get information. You guys probalby never had to go thru much separatiion anxiety from the Cowboys as great as they were in the 70s they were always on TV. Any special stories?
