Consider that their soon-to-be neighbor in Arlington is going to the 2005 season with a payroll of $52-$55 million, this is almost half of what the team had in 2002 ($105 million) and last year was close to $65 million.

Note that this year the Rangers were free of almost $25 million in bad salaries (Jeff Zimmerman, Rusty Greer, etc.) yet we've added only about $8 million.

Also consider in that $52-$55 million range, $13 million will be going to Chan Ho Park (Whose more valuable on the DL because at least insurance will pay 75% if he's on it for more than 90 days), doing the math your Texas Rangers will head into 2005 with a salary of $39 million to $42 million.

Think the Cowboys are cheap?? Rangers are now in the ballpark of the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals!!!

And the fun part - we're going to pay the NY Yankees $9 million this year for them to have A-Rod, followed by consecutive years of $6 million payments to Mr. Steinbrenner.

Still think Jerry is a cheapwad/dumb owner??
