We saw some good things from Romo this year, but it was EARLY and it was before teams started game planning him.

WE LOST 4 OF OUR FINAL 5.

Just let that sink in.

Is it all on the QB? Ridiculous. No.

Does it mean he isn't our QB and won't be a good one? No

But should we just put all of our marbles into the Romo bandwagon. In my opinion. No.

I know there are many who will disagree, and that is fine, but I think Jerry Jones better be real careful on this one.

We have had more than one backup QB who could win games in short spurts, but it didn't make them the long term guy.

Please hear me. I think he has to open the season next year as the starter, but Jerry better keep an open mind on the subject until we know FOR SURE that he can be the long term answer.

Romo played good against bad teams.

He "drove the bus" a couple of times against good/average teams

He played horrible against good teams for the most part.

I havn't graded them yet, but his season will probably be a C- / D

Go back and read my post on "Balance on Offense"

Look at how many times we ran the ball versus throw in the month of December and then look at it for the month of December....it is shocking and the Time of Possession is alarming as well.

The coaching staff put the ENTIRE season on one guys shoulders in the month of December and it shouldn't have been that way.

We were unbelievably balanced in November,,,right around 50/50 pass/run.

We went to 75/25 pass run in December.

and Tony wil be a SOLID QB. You don't ask a first year starter to win 4/5 games because your defense can stop a high school football team.

The QB spot was not the problem before Romo started. Its the freaking Oline. On the hail mary, 3 guys actually pressured Romo, made hin move around. Not a big thing by itself, but is a microcosm of our entire year. We could not protect our QB, could not allow the runners to run, could not keep our D off the field.

If we would've won..this thread wouldn't exist.

You are just incredibly wrong. Did you read the entirety of my post? I would have said the same thing right in the middle of the "anoint Romo" movement.

Rodney Peete could win games
Jason Garrett could win games
Steve Beureline DID go on a winning streak at QB

None of those guys turned out to be THE GUY for ANYONE.

Like I said. I still HOPE Romo is our long term guy. Goodness knows we need one. We haven't had anyone even look the part, except Romo, since Aikman retired. Romo represents the hope of what I have wanted for 6 years now. So I am NOT anti-Romo. What I don't want, though, is to be strapped for 4 more years to a guy who is going to struggle if they game plan him.

So, he starts next year, but at least have a backup plan.

Doesn't Romo remind you of Hasselback's career? Backing up Favre in GB until Seattle gave away a 1st rounder for him. Then Hasselback stunk up the joint for 2 yrs before the light went on and played like a real NFL QB.

In my estimation, Romo is way ahead of Hasselback in development. I agree with having a backup plan and draft a QB to develop but Romo is probably our guy. He's shown flashed in his first season to give us hope. That all Aikman showed us during his first yr as well. That's all you can ask for in the 1st season.

LOL, man. Nothing new. I think we've done that every year regardless of who's the QB.

I like Romo. Although I'm not totally sold on him like I would be for Manning or Brady - you really can't be - he's not at fault on why we lost all of those games. The defense was.

He deserves to start next year under better coordinators on both sides of the ball.

I have a question for all the Romo haters right now. Did his qb play cost us this game?

In fairness to Romo we pass way too much. I asked myself when we switched to the west coast offense.

Play the rain, blame the play calling, and then blame Romo...:bang2:

I noticed that as well some time ago Jimz

People were calling for them to get TO the ball more or this and that but I could not believe how EARLY we would give up on the run.

I don't care if the run is not working you keep calling some runs to keep the Defense honest.

This was the first game in some time where they did that IMO.

Here's the thread I started last week:

Balance on offense....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Where has it gone? Here is the breakdown for the month of December:

Rushes:
Julius Jones: 54 rushes, 231 yards for a 4.3 average.
MBIII: 38 rushes, 162 yards for a 4.3 average.

Passing:
Romo: 157 passes for 1247 yards

92 rushes vs. 157 passes......in other words 3X the amount of passes vs. our #1 RB.

Our record: 2-3

Let's look at the month of November:

Rushes:
Julius Jones: 68 rushes, 237 yards for a 3.5 avg.
MBIII: 45 rushes, 228 yards, for a 5.1 avg.

Passing:
Romo 117 passes for 1124 yards

113 rushes vs. 117 passes.....can't get much more balanced than that.

Our record: 3-1

Then, I looked at Time Of Possession:

November: HEAVILY in our favor
December: Only one time was it in our favor and it is unbelievable how much longer the opposition had the ball.....in a couple of cases, close to 10 minutes longer.

We need to get back to a more balanced attack.

You must have a balanced attack......But.....although the D played better tonight it isn't a D that's going to take you very far in the playoffs.

Anyone remember the Steve Pelluer, Gary Hogeboom days?

I hope Romo developes into a consistant QB, he's shown me he has the skills at least, but if a Troy Smith is available in the draft, don't think twice!
