How many seasons in the recent pass have begun with a significant player suspended for four to six weeks? How many times did the Cowboys lose a very close game early in the season knowing that the suspended player could have made a huge difference in the outcome?
i know it may be asking a lot considering some of the players on the current roster but these guys need to understand that their job is year round. Part of that job is insuring their availability by staying out of trouble.
We lost Collins, Gregory and Lawrence to drug violations. There was Zeke's flamboyant behavior that aggravated an investigation into some past charges.
The Cowboys were on a 3 game winning streak where Zeke averaged 130 yards a carry before his suspension. The Cowboys promptly lost three consecutive games and the leading rusher for those three games, Alfred Morris, averaged 60 yards a game. The Cowboys ended up 9-7, eliminated from the playoffs.
Lawrence and Gregory were simultaneously suspended for the first six games in 2016.
Lawrence, Collins, Elliot and Gregory have all grown up now, hopefully. Perhaps they can serve as a warning to the 2021 rookies that they need to make wise choices in the offseason. Some of these personalities have me a little worried.
