This would be off the charts...$15M for Hopkins and then this:

This Cowboys-Vikings trade for Dalvin Cook could actually work:

Dallas Cowboys
RECEIVE
Dalvin Cook

Vickings
RECEIVE
2024 Fourth-Round Pick
2024 Seventh-Round Pick

The going rate for running backs is very cheap. As we noted earlier, though, Cook remains one of the league's most dynamic and explosive backs.

In 2022, he rushed for 1,174 yards and eight touchdowns on 4.4 yards per attempt behind a wonky offensive line. He added 39 catches for 295 yards and two scores as a receiver, while forcing 51 missed tackles, averaging 3.18 yards after contact per rush attempt and totaling 30 explosive runs, per PFF.

Now, Jerry, you tell us now, these types of trades and moves are off the table for the Dallas Cowboys!
Is Jerry suppose to pay them in monopoly money? He's still has to sign CeeDee, Diggs & Micah. Cooks is making just as much as Pollard this year and 12-13 million in 2024 & 2025.

Hopkins has been injured during the past two seasons. If acquired by Dallas, he could produce well and not have to carry an undeserving load as well. Going with Dallas would be a smart move as well as give him a real shot to play well in the playoffs.
He's not signing with the Boys because he knows he needs a QB to get him the ball and that isn't happening in Big D.

If Dallas offers him $15M, oh he'll show up alright...

CD Lamb is about the NFL's 6th best wide receiver. Brandin Cooks is about the NFL's 26th best wide receiver. Hopkins is about the NFL's 16th best receiver. Their combining in the same positional group, would elevate that receiving group to the top of the NFL and immediately give the Dallas Cowboys credability for their offense to perform on a similar level as their defense.

That justifies the expense, as of June 1, the team will have about $16 M cap space to use and the ability to pay the players needing pending contracts and project out into the immediate future with to continue cap management in line with revenues to arrive from the media contracts into the NFL.

That is smart, my friend...
All we would need is the 36th ranked WR and we wpuld have the Complete set

No he won't and why should he since he was supposed to already had a great QB in clueless Kyler Murry.
Excuse hunter and a non achieving ring tapper of stereotypes. Couldn't? Turn out the lights, the party's over...

Beyond attitude, prove your point...and not by moaning of attitude. I'm not buying into Dak is another Carter routine.

Put a couple of very good receivers together and Minnesota started to get serious!

Davis
Dowdle
Jones
Luepke
Pollard
Vaughn

There are enough RB's. They just need holes to run thru.
Pollard won't handle the Red Zone/Short Yardage demands...you think that speed laden plays will trick those parts of the field - consistently? I'm not going to Vegas on those odds.

The weakest part of the team, right now is the running back group and offensive line group paired together. I would hedge that potential with a full load runner and pair with the rest of that group.

Pollard has to go without injury for that group to even have a chance to succeed.

Christ, he was productive in Houston until their quarterback became a criminal, and the Cardinals had other problems and injuries also to Hopkins over two years...clueless...or maybe just ring tapping stereotypes?

Follow posts and read, not nit picking an insult. June 1 the Dallas Cowboys will have $22 M in current cap to use fully. Additional contracts can be done on Dallas Stars and still make the next three seasons doable and strong.

If wanted, the funds are THERE!

"But the point is, if you want to max your chances with a … pretty good quarterback. If you want to make him the very best he can be, you swallow your pride – and you do have more cap room than Kansas City or Buffalo, you've got seven or eight million – you could make DeAndre happy enough. Just six, eight weeks ago, he was in Dallas campaigning: ‘Jerry, I'm here in town, training, come get me.'"

Despite having multiple players on contract in line for large extensions, Dallas would likely have the funds to sign Hopkins. Dak Prescott's restructured deal created extra cap space for the squad, and though Hopkins would garner a sum around the $20 million range, Dallas wouldn't have to worry about salary restrictions for the time being.

If the team truly is in win-now mode, perhaps pairing Hopkins with the likes of CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup and Brandin Cooks is exactly what its offense need to take the next step toward its goal.

Agreed…I think MM has made overtures he wants to get back to running the ball, so I don’t see the rationale in picking up another WR at this juncture. Dallas acquired Cooks to complement Lamb; and Gallup, should be closer to form another year removed from ACL surgery. Dallas drafted Vaughn and they have a couple of TEs who contributed in their rookie years…so plenty of targets for Dak.
Get back to running the ball? You know we ran the ball like 5th most in th eleague last year, and the difference between 1 and 5 was hardly anything. Get back to running the ball..... if we ran it anymore we would resemble the 56 cleveland browns.

Without a Jim Brown or Franco Harris and having Vaughn and Pollard...hardly.

@kpelechrinis

And the thing you are all waiting for: Passing efficiency (offensive and defensive) explains 55%-64% of the win-loss record variance. Rushing efficiency explains 5%-12%, while special teams (both kickoffs and punts) explains less than 2% of the win-loss variance.

Passing efficiency also has a higher correlation to winning than any other aspect of the game. Winning teams are usually the ones who win the passing battles (both sides of the ball). Furthermore, passing offenses remain one of the most stable entities year-to-year, so it’s a safe way to allocate future funds.

The passing offense is the most impactful and it’s stable year-to-year. In other words, it has the highest yield while remaining the safest investment. Cincinnati shouldn’t think twice just like the Cowboys shouldn’t.

The good news for Dallas is they have their contracts tapered strategically. Lamb is about to command top-of-the market prices but Gallup and Cooks are about to fall off the books (2025). Prescott’s enormous cap charge in 2024 is sure to be dealt with between now and then (via an extension) so his number will be far more palatable when the three WRs jump up in price (2024). Unbalanced rosters aren’t ideal but if a team is going to overload one facet of the game, it’s wise to make it the passing offense.

The Cowboys can always draft a very strong runner next draft or trade a couple of lower 2024 draft picks for Cook.

Yes, Prescott may have ended 2022 with more interception-worthy passes than big-time throws. But to call the quarterback play in Dallas the club’s biggest weakness seems disingenuous at best. There was also a five-game stint from the backup, a bottom-tier WR corps, and an offensive line ranked as the fifth-worst in pass block win rate.
