Do you think Jerry will throw the checkbook at Peppers? I am sure this has already been discussed & I know he still has to focus on Miles-Sensabaugh first but OMG this defense would just be filthy to finally have that DE as a guy who can get to the QB and help Spencer-D.Ware even more

no. Peppers has stated if he goes to a 3-4 he wants to be a linebacker, plus hes to small to be 3-4 DE

Both Ware and Spencer were first round picks, so Peppers is not going to replace one of them. The only other place to put Peppers would be at DE, probably replacing Spears.

Problem is that Peppers is too dam small to play DE in a 34, he would get blown up on running plays. The only thing that makes sense would be for Peppers to be a situational pass rusher and come in the game on 3rd downs.

Problem is that you dont spend the type of coin it is going to take to sign Peppers and make him a situational guy, that would just be dumb.

So no, I can guarantee you that we will not sign Peppers because he simply does not fit our defense.

Peppers wouldn't fit into our system nor would he replace Ware or Spencer.

It can't be done unless we lose a free agent that gets paid more than we would pay Peppers and that just won't happen.

Pass.

No thanks.... I like Peppers don't get me wrong but he's not a NEED for Dallas. They need to address the OL, ILB position and FS.

Nope.

I think New England is the more likely destination for Peppers.

Yes he would fit, but you're right. He won't replace Ware or Spencer. Spencer is way cheaper and he is the future and needs more experience.

Hmm... I wonder. If he did go, I'm betting he would have to take some type of pay cut.

Remember, this year looks to be uncapped, and Robert Kraft has tons of money. I don't think Peppers would need a pay cut at all. They can afford him.

Peppers wants to be an edge rusher in a 3-4. He wants to be on a contender also. He's not getting any younger and his championship window is closing. Pittsburgh doesn't need him and wouldn't pay him anyway. I don't know if Green Bay could afford him, or would want him.

New England makes a lot of sense. Had Spencer not found his game late last year, Dallas would have made some sense. Not now.

Peppers wanted to come here last year and I think Jerry was interested if he had been Free. I think the development of Spencer and the price and him not being a DE in a 3-4 means no way in hell.

No

1) The money can be used more wisely at other positions. As others have mentioned, we have Ware and Spencer.

2) Even though 2010 will be uncapped, the cap will be back, in some form, with a new CBA. Throwing money at players now can put a team in a bad cap situation when it does come back.

I'd rather find a kick butt RT to replace Colombo and continue to groom Free for LT than sign another pass rusher.

Why replace Colombo? hes been a top ten at his position since getting healthy

Pepper would not fit in our system mainly because you already have Pro-Bowler Ware and future Pro-Bowler Spencer at OLB. Peppers is way too undersized to play 3-4 DE, he's best suited to play 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB. 3-4 DE has to be much larger to take on possible double teams from big offensive linemen and often does more run defense than pass rush, not Peppers....
