Being comfortable in the middle is the problem

@Mr Cowboy, If I was capable of putting together back-to-back comprehensive sentences, I would have written this article cuz it’s been in my head for a couple years now.

I’ve tried to explain to those outside of the Cowboys fanbase that to understand a big issue in Dallas you need to remove the players from the problem. With the team building philosophy currently utilized by Grandpa and his heir to the Throne of Stupidity, the occasional 12-win season is all that should really be expected of the Cowboys. And for getting us that much, the guy we most have to thank is Will McClay.

How does a team that perennially is near the top in having a roster made up of draft picks and signed undrafted free agents continually have such a battle with the salary cap? This is a projection in business logic and finance fault – it’s not even technically a football related problem! This has got the be the most mind-numbing, frustrating part of being a Cowboys fan. Just once, I’d like to see the FO play within the guidelines of the NFL and put the best product possible on the field! Please let us feel as if our loses are in a fair fight.

I guess understanding the inexorable quest for mediocrity that goes on behind the blue curtain in Dallas does afford one benefit. You begin to accept on-field player shortcomings knowing in the back of your mind that the collective team talent ceiling will always be throttled by the Jones clan.

Raise your glasses and toast to running into a brick wall while wearing soft shell helmets for another off-season.

The only problem I have with this article is mentioning Prescot as some top tier QB in the NFL. Because he's not close to a middle rating with his insanely poor play in meaningful games. Oh sure he might win a game or two against weak teams like the Bucks, but when it comes to NFC Championships or SB wins you can forget!
You can say that about every Cowboys QB since Aikman.

I used to feel that way. But it's been so long now I'm not even phased by it. I just expect to see two teams not named the Cowboys playing today.
it's a true shame that we are numb these days.
I was blessed to be a part of the early 90s, what a great era to be a Cowboys fan, and I am thankful to have been a part of it.

We need to stop comparing ourselves to the Eagles, or other elite teams.

The Commanders is a better comparison. Old, egomaniac owner. Zero success in this millennium. "Glory days" predate the internet. Good defense, which keeps them/us from being bad enuff to truly rebuild, so we languish for decades in purgatory. And neither of us has any hope until our owner sells or dies. Franchise rakes in money despite being average on the field over last 30 years, so no real motivation from an owner to change.

Dallas Commanders.

Washington Cowboys.

Potato/Potahhhhh-to

Only REAL difference.. is when Dan Snydor leaves, they will truly have a fresh start. When Jerruh leaves (dies), we have his idiot son to step right in and keep the status quo going for a couple more decades.

Or that pesky divisional round playoff game.
Yep, I don't get the fans talking about how close we have been the last 28 years????
You have to win 3 straight games to win the sb once you get to the divisional round, and we can't win the first one.
Total fail.
Let's all get participation trophies and call it a successful season.
SMH.

the national and local media need to begin treating the Jones like the laughing stock of the NFL. They did this pre parcells. I feel the wheels will come off next season and the Joneses will need to make a major course correction.

These same same threads all fail to realize that we were right there vs the Niners. Dak brings his B+ game, Diggs decides to make a freaking Ronnie Lott hit instead of a pan sey Whiff on Kittle and we win that game. We completely shut down the All Powerfull 49’ers offense, they were not able to do squat! Bosa was not able to do Squat either going against a rookie and a RT that is as old as Moses. So, all of these other teams are so great because they have these great GM’s, but we were right freaking there and Philly we have their #, that game was there for the taking. Keep Calm and Carry On!
Sorry, woulda, coulda, shoulda, the offense was ineffective. If Jerry and his fat *** son think they're ever going to win another SB they have to complement the draft with trades and free agency. Finally cut aging players lose - like Zeke who should not be brought back if he plays for free.

A Jones family member will always be the GM. The Jones family business will never be turned over to a third party.

When Jerry says he wants a SB Win bad or that he'll do anything to win it all, just remember what he said about being in the middle. Jerry has been lying his arse off, and some fans have been eating up the lies. Again, they go on vacation at the start of free agency he doesn't care about winning, he cares about being relevant in the news.
