Being positive vs negative all the time

AI is great
To some extent it is. To put in a few prompts of what you want to articulate and get near instantaneously a message that meets your intent and is comprehensive is highly efficient. Even if v you have to add supplemental prompts to correct/ fine-tune it is worth the time saved in having to formulate and write the whole thing from scratch (not to mention grammaticallycorrect). And if your concerned with reading as AI, there are prompts to solve for that as well.

The Cowboys are not winning anything of significance as long as Jerry draws breath as GM. The rest is just the same old ish from the same old fans at the beginning of each season.
People who are negative and absolute about the Cowboys - like this - want to be right more than they want the Cowboys to win.

It's a microcosm for a lot of culture.

It may be comprehensive and highly efficient, but it is very often a complete misrepresentation of the human behind the prompts. If you're capable of the level of eloquence expressed in the OP why take the lazy way out. If you're not capable of writing something very similar then it's fraudulent.

I view my terrible grammar as authentications of authenticity. lol

i have found as i get older (44 now), the less i get mad if they lose, and the more i enjoy when the win.

It is becoming easier to let it go vs when i was in my 20s / 30s....that being the case i feel the highs are still high, but the lows have a higher floor.

All that being said, i think there is also a 3rd element which is apathy - i just dont care once they reach a certain point of poor performance.
Good post.

My enthusiasm was so big in my 20s/30s that I usually redistributed blood allocation at least a half dozen times during the course of a game.

This is literally the dumbest thread I have ever read on here. Everybody deals with success and failures in their own ways, and nobody has the right to tell them how to face the ups and downs of being a fan of a certain team. To always be positive is to accept the status quo, so if you, as a fan, subscribe to this, then great. To suggest that a fan of a team who is negative at times is insane and lacks the enjoyment of the event is ludicrous and 100% shows that somebody who thinks that of others is being "negative" themselves, and shows uninformed judgment in their warped own way.

I have been a fan of this team for over 40+ years, and have lived through the misery of my MLB and NFL teams being a total disgrace on the success side of things for 30 of them. Last I checked, I haven't lost my marbles and enjoy the games as much as I did 40 years ago. Heaven forbid I engage with others of like mind in a public forum, only to be called a "hater", and "negative" because I can be critical LOLOL.

Haha yes!!! I remember crying after the giants playoff loss and not talking to anyone for 3 days...

Is it really the dumbest thread you have ever read on here? That would honestly be an accomplishment as ive seen some doozies over the years

You're just a tad older than me which means you were watching the resurgence under Romo in your 20s and a fresh start under Dak in your 30s.

For me, I think apathy is really the key ingredient. The failure of the Romo and Dak eras, after so much joy and hope initially, make it hard not to see the common problem is the Jones family. And since they aren't going anywhere, it's hard to get truly excited.

But on the flip side, you learn to enjoy the little things. Optimistic Nihilism adjacent, I suppose.

Seriously though, I am more enthusiastic about this season than the last few.

And for me all it took was using trades to aquire blue chip players......like most of the 31 other teams do via FA and trades
I am more enthusiastic as well, I see a top 5 offense and a young and talented hungry defense coming. This has been the best off season in a long time, and I think we will see some good results. Like getting back to the playoffs.

Disagree with the premise.

Negativity sparks change and has done so at times when the Jones family feels that the fandom is slipping.

The problem is, we are unable to sustain negativity long enough, because we get easily distracted by showy regular season accomplishments.

Being positive isn’t about pretending the Cowboys have been successful — it’s about protecting your sanity, your enjoyment, and your identity as a fan. Negativity feels “realistic,” but long‑term it drains you, narrows your perspective, and makes the whole experience miserable.

Being negative about the Cowboys doesn’t change the record, the roster, or Jerry’s decisions.
It just changes you — your mood, your enjoyment, your energy.

Positivity is the only mindset that gives you a return on investment:

• You enjoy the wins more
• You survive the losses easier
• You stay connected to the team without burning out

The always negative type think:
“If I expect failure, I can’t be disappointed.”

But here’s the truth:
They’re still disappointed — they just ruin the season in advance and they become bitter.

Positive fans get:

• Hope during the season
• Excitement during wins
• A buffer during losses

Negativity is just pre‑pain.

So that’s why I always preach, stay positive and go Cowboys.
So be a sheep? lmao

You can stay positive without pretending everything is fine. There's a difference between hope and blind optimism.

Being critical of the Cowboys isn't about wanting them to lose. It's about holding a franchise with enormous resources and expectations accountable. Fans have watched nearly three decades without reaching an NFC Championship Game. At some point, criticism isn't negativity, it's an honest reaction to the results.

Saying "negativity doesn't change the team" cuts both ways. Positivity doesn't change the record, the roster, or Jerry's decisions either. Neither mindset affects what happens on the field.

The idea that criticism "ruins the season" assumes fans can't enjoy football while recognizing flaws. Plenty of fans celebrate every win, cheer every Sunday, and still question coaching, roster moves, or front-office decisions.

Hope is great, but hope should be earned. Every offseason can't be "this is our year" regardless of the evidence. That's not optimism—it's refusing to learn from history.

The goal isn't to expect failure. The goal is to expect accountability. When the Cowboys consistently prove they can get over the playoff hump, they'll earn more optimism. Until then, skepticism is a reasonable response to 30 years of falling short.

I'll still watch every game. I'll still celebrate every win. But I'm not going to confuse loyalty with pretending the organization has met the standard it set for itself.

I see someone is trying to defend his constant boot licking to Jerry Jones.

Hilarious ........ next he will make a thread about how he is leaving because of all the haters.

Insanity - "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".

Like crying about how the Cowboys can't win with Jerry every day?

This just proves my point lol. You want to be right, you don't care if the Cowboys win or not.

AI overview

Being a positive fan boosts your mental health and physical well-being. Cheering and optimism trigger dopamine and healthy stress responses like "eustress". In contrast, negativity causes toxic emotional contagion for athletes, increases isolation, and leaves you fixated on outcomes you cannot control, taking the joy out of the game. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

The Benefits of a Positive Fandom
  • Dopamine and Natural Highs: When your team succeeds, your brain’s reward circuitry releases dopamine, creating an instant mood boost. Positivity prolongs this happiness.
  • A Deeper Sense of Community: Cheering in local groups reduces social isolation and boosts self-esteem. Optimistic fans foster stronger communal bonds, turning the game into a shared, uplifting ritual.
  • Lowering Unnecessary Stress: Negativity creates the wrong kind of emotional stress, which psychologists associate with frustration and hopelessness. Positivity channels emotional energy into constructive, manageable excitement.
  • Creating a Positive Contagion: Supportive fan energy acts as a source of "positive emotional contagion". Cheering can encourage athletes and elevate their momentum, while booing or focusing on the negative tends to drain morale. [4, 5, 9]

Unable to address the message aren’t you. You know it pertains to you.

The audacity of this post lmao

Truth is, it’s good to find a balance but for the last 30 years the negatives have far outweighed any positives. People will start being positive again once you start winning, winning fixes most of the problems on this forum
