Being positive vs negative all the time

I think most people are here to just share how they feel about the Cowboys. Good or bad.

Not for therapy or life advice about whether they should be positive or not. You can’t control other people’s thoughts. So don’t let it bother you if they’re too negative for your liking.

Being positive isn’t about pretending the Cowboys have been successful — it’s about protecting your sanity, your enjoyment, and your identity as a fan. Negativity feels “realistic,” but long‑term it drains you, narrows your perspective, and makes the whole experience miserable.

Being negative about the Cowboys doesn’t change the record, the roster, or Jerry’s decisions.
It just changes you — your mood, your enjoyment, your energy.

Positivity is the only mindset that gives you a return on investment:

• You enjoy the wins more
• You survive the losses easier
• You stay connected to the team without burning out

The always negative type think:
“If I expect failure, I can’t be disappointed.”

But here’s the truth:
They’re still disappointed — they just ruin the season in advance and they become bitter.

Positive fans get:

• Hope during the season
• Excitement during wins
• A buffer during losses

Negativity is just pre‑pain.

So that’s why I always preach, stay positive and go Cowboys.

Haha yes!!! I remember crying after the giants playoff loss and not talking to anyone for 3 days...
I once watched the entire 2nd half of a game while on the crapper with an entire house of people there.

I had a continuous bubbling stomach and I could either shut the door and miss it or leave it open and continue unloading a freight train while viewing....naturally I chose the latter.

Thats dedication to the cause

You can stay positive without pretending everything is fine. There's a difference between hope and blind optimism.

Being critical of the Cowboys isn't about wanting them to lose. It's about holding a franchise with enormous resources and expectations accountable. Fans have watched nearly three decades without reaching an NFC Championship Game. At some point, criticism isn't negativity, it's an honest reaction to the results.

Saying "negativity doesn't change the team" cuts both ways. Positivity doesn't change the record, the roster, or Jerry's decisions either. Neither mindset affects what happens on the field.

The idea that criticism "ruins the season" assumes fans can't enjoy football while recognizing flaws. Plenty of fans celebrate every win, cheer every Sunday, and still question coaching, roster moves, or front-office decisions.

Hope is great, but hope should be earned. Every offseason can't be "this is our year" regardless of the evidence. That's not optimism—it's refusing to learn from history.

The goal isn't to expect failure. The goal is to expect accountability. When the Cowboys consistently prove they can get over the playoff hump, they'll earn more optimism. Until then, skepticism is a reasonable response to 30 years of falling short.

I'll still watch every game. I'll still celebrate every win. But I'm not going to confuse loyalty with pretending the organization has met the standard it set for itself.
Im a faithfully blind optimistic realist, with a side of Jerry despise.

My brain is diseased. I read the OP. My mind created a mental image of Alanis Morissette. She was wearing boxing gloves and punching herself in the face, all the while singing Ironic.

And she was throwing haymakers.

But that huge smile never left her face.

Dang it. She threw an upper cut.

Yeah. She's out cold. Kinda ironic...

Others' negativity bothers you, not them. Some people are negative because, while they're still disappointed, they don't feel like a patsy when the losses come. They were expecting it, so they're prepared, and most can even joke about it when it happens, because they're not devastated.

I'm personally hopeful, but cautious and I try to be realistic about the team, without being angry at them.

When I expect them to win, and they don't, that's when I get mad. Sometimes I get mad at the officials, sometimes the stupid players, and sometimes at life in general...Oh wait, that last one is a constant state.

Anyway, different people are made differently, and telling them how they should feel is absurd.

Well, I will feel hurt being left in the dark if that is the case.
Only one way to find out. Well maybe there is more than one but this is the best one. Well maybe not the best one but my personal favorite one.

Use your powers to try and bench him for a month. Only for research purposes. Nothing personal.

Maybe the more negative posters are tired of being wrong as many times as the positive people

Remember one key distinction with the "haters" and the "homers".

The "Haters" are actually on topic with CowboysZone. We are talking about the team itself.

The "Homers" are almost always off-topic. Their main point of discussion is not the Cowboys, It's the other fans who don't have agree with them.

"Haters">>>>"Homers" when it comes to following the rules.

We have a chance at the playoffs and that's as positive as I'm getting. If the Cowboys want me to go back to who I was in the 90s then they must prove it to me. Simple really.

The negative posters have been correct for 30+ years and counting. We would actually love to be wrong even just once, but I think that it's going to be at least another 30 to 50 years before there is a realistic chance of this team NOT being managed by a Jones family member.

You do not understand.

None of you will ever understand.

Whatever life has in store for me,

I will never forget these words:

With great power

Comes great responsibility.

This is my gift.

My curse.

Who am I?

I'm Spider-Man avatar.

Like crying about how the Cowboys can't win with Jerry every day?

This just proves my point lol. You want to be right, you don't care if the Cowboys win or not.
I can make the same claims going the other way. You super homers are the most glad when the Cowboys lose because then you get to apply your purity tests to those fans that are tired of it, have had it, and are in "prove it" phase rather than constant pom pom waving.

Nope, you guys love losses so you can come here and point fingers at the other fans and call them names, and virtue signal about how much better human beings you are than anyone else.

It's comical how transparent your motives really are.
