Being positive vs negative all the time

I'm gonna be really controversial here as I step out in front of the crowd.

Instead of vacillating to either the positivity pole of the negativity pole, I am going to try and plant myself fully in the reality realm. No need being radical in either direction. I like to keep my feet planted firmly on the ground.

Thankyou for considering another path to take !

My brain is diseased. I read the OP. My mind created a mental image of Alanis Morissette. She was wearing boxing gloves and punching herself in the face, all the while singing Ironic.

And she was throwing haymakers.

But that huge smile never left her face.

Dang it. She threw an upper cut.

Yeah. She's out cold. Kinda ironic...
Hand her a sledgehammer!

Being positive isn’t about pretending the Cowboys have been successful — it’s about protecting your sanity, your enjoyment, and your identity as a fan. Negativity feels “realistic,” but long‑term it drains you, narrows your perspective, and makes the whole experience miserable.

Being negative about the Cowboys doesn’t change the record, the roster, or Jerry’s decisions.
It just changes you — your mood, your enjoyment, your energy.

Positivity is the only mindset that gives you a return on investment:

• You enjoy the wins more
• You survive the losses easier
• You stay connected to the team without burning out

The always negative type think:
“If I expect failure, I can’t be disappointed.”

But here’s the truth:
They’re still disappointed — they just ruin the season in advance and they become bitter.

Positive fans get:

• Hope during the season
• Excitement during wins
• A buffer during losses

Negativity is just pre‑pain.

So that’s why I always preach, stay positive and go Cowboys.
It depends on the mood and the subject Some people are triggered more easily on some subjects and others aren't and vice versa you can't always have people in that kind of mood with Santa Claus unicorns and all that rainbow stuff..

I like to ride the center of all that some days I'm super positive in a good mood and other days hey I'm ready for a hot debate, let's go..

Just like Prescott says,

here we go!!!!!!! ,

and then let it rip..

Both Positive and negative posters can join forces on this take.

Ooh, give mannish Hayek the sledgehammer and she can hit Ms. Needsadictionary with it!
THAT'S IT! That's the final straw, sir!

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for pay-for-disses, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let the disses go, now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will give you a wedgie that'll kill you.

As I've said before, if you can't be content with just your own positivity and anything different affects you, perhaps your stated positivity isn't as ironclad as you make it out to be.
Or, if you don't like the crowd you hang with, get lost and find another crowd that agrees with everything that you want them to. But, good luck with that, because that is not how the World works.

Whenever I think of "positivity", your name is the 1st thing that pops into my mind

i have found as i get older (44 now), the less i get mad if they lose, and the more i enjoy when the win.
100%. Same here.

I used to walk in the door after watching football with the boys, and my wife would know instantly: "Cowboys lost, huh?" or "Cowboys must've won."

I finally realized it wasn't worth letting a game dictate the rest of my day. It's just a game....one that'll most likely be forgotten about and buried in the history of countless other games.

Now, that's not to say I wouldn't be absolutely HYPED if the Cowboys made a deep playoff run/made a Super Bowl. I'd lose my mind, but I don't let the losses negatively affect my quality of life anymore.

You live, you learn, and you mature. Such is life.

It is becoming easier to let it go vs when i was in my 20s / 30s....that being the case i feel the highs are still high, but the lows have a higher floor.

All that being said, i think there is also a 3rd element which is apathy - i just dont care once they reach a certain point of poor performance.
It may be less about age and more about being jaded due to a lack of success.

Like crying about how the Cowboys can't win with Jerry every day?

This just proves my point lol. You want to be right, you don't care if the Cowboys win or not.
Oh, and one more thing...

You are mad, not because I want to be right. You are mad that I am right.
