Being positive vs negative all the time

Being positive isn’t about pretending the Cowboys have been successful — it’s about protecting your sanity, your enjoyment, and your identity as a fan.
How does being hateful, mean, trolling, and negative all the time to people who disagree with you do to what you listed above?

Asking because you have more experience in those than anyone else else I have seen on this site.

Positivity isn't only about your attitude towards the team. In fact I would surmise that being respectful of differences with fellow man is more important than fandom to a sports team.

I’m not being “incredibly mean” to others. But many others are incredibly mean to us positive folks.
Are you really that unaware? Ask people, you are the meanest person on this site.

And it's not many. Only the few that you fight w/ constantly. Only reason others may be mean to you is because you are so incredibly mean to others.

I support anyone’s right to express their opinions here as long as they are within the rules. This is a fan opinion forum, not a one size fits all rah-rah club.

The minute we start complaining about what other people say on here is -IN MY OPINION - missing the point. A forum is all about diversity of opinion.

As long as we don’t attack or demean each other, there are two good responses to opinions we disagree with or just don’t like seeing here:
  1. State WHY you disagree with the other person’s opinion by stating your own opinion. Disagreement is normal on an opinion forum. It’s what makes this place tick.
  2. Ignore it.
I believe the biggest waste of time on this great forum is to attack other fans for their opinions. Especially over what any of us think is “positive” or “negative”.

If someone wants to be positive all the time, that’s fine. But out respect for your fellow Cowboys fans I recommend not attacking them or demeaning them ever. Just disagree. That’s exactly how this place works best.

No one. Not a single soul on here has the right to decide what it means to be a “good Cowboys fan”.

If anyone wants to be “positive” around here, step 1 is to be more tolerant of other people’s opinions. That applies to all of us.
Definite sticky thread!!!!!!!

I just default to what this man says.

And sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Actually I see the logic here. It's been three decades of very (VERY) little playoff success.

If we constantly set the bar at Super Bowl it's going to make us all very bitter year in and year out. For many of us it already has.

If we just enjoy the wins in a bubble and feel good about it in the moment it could save us a lot of angst and misery. Of course we want more. But it hasn't happened since 1996. And if it ever happens again just think what a pleasant surprise it will be.

Yes, it's sad and ridiculous that a team like the Cowboys has sank this far.....but what can we do?

What a bunch of horse crap. Rocky, it's sports. Actually it's become more like reality TV. It's entertainment. It quite literally means nothing in the big picture.

I agree completely that generally a positive attitude is beneficial in the areas of life that matter. Within reason of course. Delusion is positivity's first cousin. But again, this ain't real life. It's a distraction. It's fluff. It could be seen as a sacrificial anode. An activity that can be used to be brutally honest and critical without consequences. People beotching about their favorite teams has been happening in barbershops and bars and diners since the beginning of time.

I would say that fans like you and others who go on and on incessantly about the attitudes of other fans should take a hard look at yourselves. Ask yourself why you need others to see things the same way you do in order for you to enjoy the experience. You are literally letting others control your experience which you endlessly exacerbate by taking a negative attitude towards them and lashing out in a negative manner.

If I were leading a group on a ride around the mountains and you were the new guy I would make it a point to tell you to never be afraid to ride your own ride. To don't feel you have to keep up if it takes you outside your comfort zone. To stay within yourself and know that I(we) WILL be waiting for you at the next turn because we're all in this together.

The same advice applies here. Ride your own ride, Rocky. I promise you we're all going to end up in the same place at the end. I promise.

Cowboys on three...
One, Two, Three, COWBOYS!!!
Bravo dude.

Basically every professional sports team goes 30 years between championships. Most go more.

And that ignores the plain fact that the Cowboys have won Super Bowls with Jerry.

You're confused about facts, that's fine.
You're confused about reading comprehension. Notice I stated anything of significance. I never stated championships. And Jerry won with Jimmy's leftovers. Never accomplished anything after they left. Hence, the thirty year hiatus from the N.F.C. championship game.

Jerry can't even win a divisional round game without Jimmy's picks and staff. Hell, the last time the Dallas Cowboys advanced past the Divisional Round of the playoffs was in the 1995 NFL season.

you are confused period

I can make the same claims going the other way. You super homers are the most glad when the Cowboys lose because then you get to apply your purity tests to those fans that are tired of it, have had it, and are in "prove it" phase rather than constant pom pom waving.

Nope, you guys love losses so you can come here and point fingers at the other fans and call them names, and virtue signal about how much better human beings you are than anyone else.

It's comical how transparent your motives really are.
That’s rich coming from you of all people. You need to make things up just so you can hate some more. It’s not good enough for you to just criticize and complain. You make ridiculous comparisons and false statements just for fun I guess.

This franchise and many players deserve the negativity and criticism. But you and a small group of others are the most vocal. Someone mentioned it in another post. You few make the whole forum seem miserable but it’s only you handful. It somewhat applies to the other extreme Tbf. Shabazz mentioned that most of us reside in the middle, and we do. But oh hell, let me say one little positive thing about Dak, and you miserables won’t shut the you know what up.

The ones that take up for Dak incessantly are no where near as annoying as you few. Take it down a notch and be more respectful of other posters and their opinions. Haha, what am I talking about, you aren’t capable.
