Being positive vs negative all the time

What a bunch of horse crap. Rocky, it's sports. Actually it's become more like reality TV. It's entertainment. It quite literally means nothing in the big picture.

I agree completely that generally a positive attitude is beneficial in the areas of life that matter. Within reason of course. Delusion is positivity's first cousin. But again, this ain't real life. It's a distraction. It's fluff. It could be seen as a sacrificial anode. An activity that can be used to be brutally honest and critical without consequences. People beotching about their favorite teams has been happening in barbershops and bars and diners since the beginning of time.

I would say that fans like you and others who go on and on incessantly about the attitudes of other fans should take a hard look at yourselves. Ask yourself why you need others to see things the same way you do in order for you to enjoy the experience. You are literally letting others control your experience which you endlessly exacerbate by taking a negative attitude towards them and lashing out in a negative manner.

If I were leading a group on a ride around the mountains and you were the new guy I would make it a point to tell you to never be afraid to ride your own ride. To don't feel you have to keep up if it takes you outside your comfort zone. To stay within yourself and know that I(we) WILL be waiting for you at the next turn because we're all in this together.

The same advice applies here. Ride your own ride, Rocky. I promise you we're all going to end up in the same place at the end. I promise.

Cowboys on three...
One, Two, Three, COWBOYS!!!
Nice analogy brother, but I have to tell you I'm sick of leading rides. Always looking in the rear view mirror to make sure everyone made the turn, made it through a light or intersection...Blah now I just want to be near the back of the pack and mostly worry free. Enjoy the scenery.

For a sec, I thought about making a joke about firemen, but I decided not to insult any members who happen to be part of that honorable profession.
Thank you, my son is a Albuqueque fireman, but he has a sense of humor as most sane people do. So, tell me the joke, no hard feelings will get hurt.

Now this is a post I can agree with.
I can do without the nitpickers that switch and complain about every little thing.

Lack of effort is what makes me negative failing to prepare is preparing to fail in my opinion.

This year I'm excited and I'm positive we have made improvements in our defense effort has been made and I'm sure everyone will see a difference and there will be a lot of positive commentary.

There needs to be effort made every year to keep a positive atmosphere.

Conversely if CD lamb drops a whole bunch of balls against the eagles and here's footsteps again this year I will be as critical and negative as they come.
I’VE STATED THIS OVER A HUNDRED TIMES HERE ALREADY. It should be no surprise to anyone other than the haters who just chose to ignore what I mean and come up with their on definition of what I mean. Some really nasty people here. Just read their posts attacking me. It’s telling.

Right here is the root of your problem. There is not one single fact in the OP. You mistake opinions you agree with as facts.

Your absolute insistence that your opinion overrides everyone else's opinion and justifies your personal attacks does nothing more than put the dog on high alert and in a defensive posturing position.

Then you somehow are able to twist that into justification to assume a victim mentality.

Some people walk the dog. Some people are walked by the dog.
I’m not trying to change you. I’m just pointing out the facts. You think it’s ok to come here every day, in every thread and piss on whatever player or coach or trade or draft, whatever. You *****. The facts are, someone like you is a miserable person otherwise, they wouldn’t be doing it. It’s just your character. So attack me all you want little man. It justifies my OP.

Here’s the definition of “negativity”.

Negativity is a tendency to be downbeat, disagreeable, and skeptical. It's a pessimistic attitude that always expects the worst. Negative outcomes are bad outcomes, like losing a game, getting a disease, suffering an injury, or getting something stolen.
And a tendency is an inclination towards a certain thought or action, all of which suggests that it doesn't happen every single time. Again, there are different degrees.

When it comes to being a sports fan, I think that negativity can be a defense mechanism against disappointment and frustration.

Cowboys fans with a negative attitude are less likely to be disappointed.

How many seasons of disappointment must a fan endure before he is allowed to feel as though this season is going to be the same?

Does this apply to only Cowboys fans? Are Lions and Cardinal fans allowed to be negative towards their teams?

People ignore your words because your actions speak louder, and show your true colors.

If you’re really concerned about people being nasty and attacking you….Stones and glass houses and such….

It certainly looks like it’s happened to many, many fans here. If you deny that, your heads in the sand.

You said: “Cowboys fans with a negative attitude are less likely to be disappointed.”
Then said: “How many seasons of disappointment must a fan endure

You guys don’t even realize when you contradict yourselves because of your blind hatred.

I could care less if you haters ignore my words. That’s not my intention. I just point out that *****ing all the time will lead to bitterness. We see it every day including yourself. You and the others won’t admit it because it’s sub-human behavior and you know it’s true. So you can be who you want and say what you want and I’ll call you what you are.

Rock….look I love to go back and forth with you but I’ll try to be done. Honestly it’s at a point where you’re a human being that needs help.

No one in their right mind can read this post and not think this is anything but a struggling person who is projecting onto other people.

I truly hope you can find help, and I’m glad to say a prayer for you. Wish I could do more but I live in a different state and am clueless on local resources.

Actually, you’re the one that needs the help. You’re the one negative all the time. You’re the one bitter. You can’t even enjoy the season because of your hate for Jerry and you say I need help? Blow smoke you know where.

Maybe I am wrong but going on four decades I am fairly certain the only light Jerry Jones will finally see will be at the end of a tunnel...
You are probably right because Jerry does not seem unhappy or dissatisfied with the way things are.

And he certainly doesn't care how dissatisfied we are as a fan base over the 30 years of underachieving due to running the franchise around all his idiosyncrasies

As a narcissist, Jones is usually feels contentment or happiness UNTIL someone confronts and questions their authority. That is when his anger surfaces.

Being positive isn’t about pretending the Cowboys have been successful — it’s about protecting your sanity, your enjoyment, and your identity as a fan. Negativity feels “realistic,” but long‑term it drains you, narrows your perspective, and makes the whole experience miserable.

Being negative about the Cowboys doesn’t change the record, the roster, or Jerry’s decisions.
It just changes you — your mood, your enjoyment, your energy.

Positivity is the only mindset that gives you a return on investment:

• You enjoy the wins more
• You survive the losses easier
• You stay connected to the team without burning out

The always negative type think:
“If I expect failure, I can’t be disappointed.”

But here’s the truth:
They’re still disappointed — they just ruin the season in advance and they become bitter.

Positive fans get:

• Hope during the season
• Excitement during wins
• A buffer during losses

Negativity is just pre‑pain.

So that’s why I always preach, stay positive and go Cowboys.
In other words, you need to create a fantasy land for your fragile mind and then put on others what acknowledging reality would do to you and not them.
