The Cowboys are not winning anything of significance as long as Jerry draws breath as GM. The rest is just the same old ish from the same old fans at the beginning of each season.

I quit being negative when I started coaching football in 1990. Negativity spreads like wildfire, so does positivity. I got to see both sides of fans, up close and personal. Not putting anyone down or making it personal, around here, but both side are funny. We, coaches and players would make fun of both, the negative ones were extremely funny. We went 29-1, in regular season and 33-4 in a 3 year span and fans were still negative.

My coping mechanism is to make the Cowboys #2 on my list after the Mavericks. Could never say that 5 years ago. You treat us like a dufus, then you get dufus behavior from us.

This is dripping in irony, but ironically it is so you and what you are known for, on this forum, that it's more sad than funny. And yet, you don't even want to address or change the fact that you are pretty much the most consistently negative person here. Negative towards the team? No. Towards pretty much everyone on here? Absolutely. All the time. That makes it even worse

He’s so bad, and has been for years, I honestly think this all an act. He’s been attention starved and ignored his entire life but now this “act” has become his identity and he loves the attention, even though it’s 99% negative. There’s definitely a lot of narcissistic traits as well, it would almost be comical if it weren’t so pathetic and sad.

There is a clear distinction between these 2.

The immature insults of hater or other negative titles reflect more on the immaturity of those doing the name calling over those holding pessimistic views of a poorly run football team.

That’s your choice, and no one can stop you from feeling that way, but honestly, it’s ridiculous to say the man cheated us out of a second dynasty. He built a new one in Dallas with three championships, compared to the two under the old ownership. I don’t want to hear about long playoff runs and winning seasons, the Cowboys were on the verge of bankruptcy, and who knows who might have bought the team or moved them out of Dallas. Jerry came in, saved the franchise, added three titles, and somehow you still feel cheated? Let’s not go back to blaming Jerry for the Jimmy/Jerry breakup, they were equally responsible. It was like a divorce, with irreconcilable differences on both sides, and they simply couldn’t work together anymore.

These were two huge egos that clashed, but they remained friends, just not partners. And this drought? It’s far from the longest in NFL or sports history,

it’s really not that bad.

The Kansas City Chiefs took 56 years to get back to the top, and no matter how many GMs or coaches they went through, their drought was longer. The Eagles took even longer than our current drought to win their first championship, what was that, 2017? I’m not keeping track, but that’s a long time since 1960.

There are teams out there with no rings at all, and some with only one. We’re just waiting on number six, thanks to Jerry bringing three, plus two more, making five. Now we’re after #6. We’re not stuck like Houston, who’s had three teams tied to them in Texas and still nothing to show for it. The Titans left Houston and haven’t won anything, the Oilers never won, and the Texans still haven’t won a thing.

So, you want to be upset because Jerry doesn’t run his business the way you think he should. having a regular GM and what you’d call “real football people.” In your mind, he’s not a true football person, even though he played on a national championship team with Jimmy. He wouldn’t have bought the Cowboys without a passion for the game, and yet you believe that in 35-plus years he hasn’t learned anything about football, that he’s still not a football guy, and that the people he’s hired haven’t collaborated enough to get it right. You think he’s doing this out of ego or that it’s just dumb luck he’s in a losing streak and championship drought. That’s hard to understand, and it’s not like I’m not frustrated too, I’m ready for an NFC Championship appearance and another Super Bowl, long overdue.

But I see it as a year-to-year process, not a 30-year drought. This is a new season, and one of these days the Cowboys will surprise everyone. It takes luck with injuries, hitting on draft picks, free agents working out, and everything coming together. When that happens, we’ll win number six, and I just hope I’m around to see it.

Blaming Jerry for all the frustration you’re feeling is understandable, but he still deserves credit for the three championships and for solidifying the Cowboys as America’s Team. Without him swooping in and adding three more Lombardis to the shelf, that title might have been lost. Thanks to Jerry, the rest of the league recognizes dynasty number two, keeping the Cowboys’ moniker alive.

It’s not just because of Jimmy, there’s a chicken-and-egg situation here. Jerry bought the team, approached Jimmy to be his coach, and together they built a short but undeniable dynasty. They earned more rings and added so many Lombardis to the shelf that they had to push the other two aside just to make room.


Other teams with the typical setup of a regular GM, maybe an assistant GM, and an owner who stays out of the way aren’t racking up championships either.

I get that people think if Jerry brought in a standard GM, he’d suddenly step back from day-to-day involvement, but he owns the team—he’ll always have the final say. I understand the frustration, but it’s important to remember what he’s done for this franchise. Without Jerry buying the team and hiring Jimmy as head coach, those championships wouldn’t have happened, his money, drive, and vision made it possible.

I’m not defending everything he’s done; I’m frustrated too, especially about those first ten years after Jimmy left. But Jerry has changed over the last twenty years, especially in the last five.


Maybe it’s too little, too late, but let’s not forget he’s the one who brought home those three Lombardi's, and he’s determined to make number six even, as fan that is better than waiting on the 1st or 2nd....

He won three championships as the owner, Jimmy Johnson built that team. That team was so strong that it won a Super Bowl on autopilot after Jimmy left.

The idea that Jerry was a positive factor as a strategist is an insult to every GM in the history of the NFL. It took decades for these guys to build their credentials at every level of coaching and/or scouting and this guy just stepped in and knew how to build a team?

Jerry was a checkbook during those seasons and now he is a tragic 30 year failure as a GM.

How long ago was Landry's last Super Bowl in 1989, the year everyone claimed he had lost his ability to coach in the NFL? He is considerd one fo the greatest coaches in history but they got rid of him 11 seasons after going to his last SB.

I thought we had all reached the point where everyone understood that. The proof is in a million places. I've had this conversation over and over and I've generated article after article from that timespan that shows Jimmy made every single football related decision until 1993 when Jerry reneged on his agreement.

It wasn't just because of Jimmy. It took leadership from team members. It took the talents of his scouting staff, most of whom worked previously for Jimmy. It took luck when Jimmy was "forced" to pick Emmitt in the draft after his choice was drafted.

It took NOTHING from Jerry Jones.....NOTHING.
