He's going to have a lot to deal with in dealing with these college and the university stuff, bill isn't really known for being that nice kind of guy
He chose college football over amateur football....

Its a good move for BB.

He's got tons of NFL rings.

Save one for NCAA.

I know many fans were hopeful but many of us certainly suspect if he’d be interested with our dysfunctional situation giving up the control he seeks , assuming Jethro & Son would even pursue which was probably unlikely as well for same reasons.

I am a little surprised he didn’t pursue coming back to NFL only needing 15 wins to break Shulas total win mark. But I guess he wants to pursue being one of the HC’s to win both a SB and Nat’l Championship. Or just ride off into the sunset on his own terms .

Hard to say why he went this direction. Maybe the Taraheels just pursued him and no one else was calling. His style and persona doesn’t seem to fit this level . And unlike many coaches who start off at college level this will be his first stint.

ACC definitely appears to be a much easier major conference to break thru competition to playoffs than say SEC or Big 10. So there’s that.

Im just having a difficult time seeing him as a major recruiter at 73 years old with his demeanor . Maybe he’s counting on his name to carry it or depending on an asst coaching staff to go to all of these kids homes.

My hunch is while he could have some success I wouldn’t expect him to contend with the major schools around the country for the Blue Chip talent.

Good news is we won’t have the storyline or drama surrounding him in NFL. Now who is everyone’s pipe dream beyond Bill.
Bill would of been a product for Jerry to sell hope again but had he come to Dallas he wouldnt be able to win much. It's going to take a first round talented QB to turn this franchise into something special again. That's the only thing that can come close to saving this franchise. Big Mike can only do so much with an avg QB.

No HC is going to save the Cowboys with Joneses in charge. New HC same problems.
Common denominator is avg QB play! They haven't won anything since Aikman retired. If you ain't got a top tier QB you ain't in the race. Even big Mike can't call plays to work the middle of the field because of Daks inconsistent accuracy.
Romo had a blind spot in his vision. He never saw the LB coming from the other side of the field.
Dallas just has not invested in true talent at QB. We watched Stafford and Josh Allen the other night dueling it out. And that's what top tier guys can do. Throw cousins or Dak out there and Stafford or Allen crushes them.

They weren’t winning anything the last few years Aikman played. He was 0-2 in his last couple of playoff games. Stafford didn’t win anything for a decade until he came to the Rams. His playoff record was 0-3. This thread isn’t about Dak. Go cry about him to someone else.

Kept telling everyone Belichick wasn’t coming here. I said repeatedly I wasn’t convinced he would be coaching in the NFL again. NFL teams weren’t interested. There’s a youth movement amongst head coaches going on in the NFL.
Young, innovative, not already scrutinized. Been saying it for years.

Yep and Aikman was 1-15 his first season.
But the key is he had the pedigree to get the job done. Stafford never had the team in Detroit. Dak has had the team and he let the team down 3 times and they have 0 confidence in that choker.

Aikman had great teams and we he didn’t, he struggled. Stafford had three good teams in Detroit that made the playoffs and had one of the all-time great WRs and still couldn’t win.

My question is does he have an out in his contract that would allow him to leave for an NFL HC job?
This could just be a fallback option should no NFL teams come a courting.

My sense is that the NFL is an entertainment business that could no longer suffer "The Patriot Way" which was really Bill Parcells' way on steroids. In college he can still be iron fisted with younger impressionable kids...although they too now have money. I suspect he will ultimately fail...because in college talent matters a ton...and he's a poor judge of it. His teams will always be competitive, but I don't see top talent wanting to play for him and I don't see him consistently recruiting top talent either.

He basically built three separate teams around Brady and you claim he could not judge talent?
The BB haters are so amusing

Unless Belichick was coming with a new owner and in his prime Brady, he wasnt saving this franchise.

Under what circumstances could Belichick "save" the Cowboys?
Why do you think Belichick did not "pursue" NFL employment? Or was it no NFL club pursued him?

The sad truth is, chap, offers were probably few or nonexistent.
Belichick, I believe, took the NC job to save face and prove to his 25-year-old that he was employable.
Old, spent and pathetic.
I thank him for not being a viable candidate here.

There's talk around here in NC that Bill was brought in to be more of a "rainmaker" for UNC, staff to handle recruiting duties and NIL payments and such. IOW, he'll be a football coach. UNC hopes that his name will attract more elite HS players that Clemson, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Bama, Georgia typically sign.
