Saw below on the Ranch Report scout.com forum and thought you'd all enjoy it. Don't think it duplicates anything else I've read on here.

Back from the San Diego Game...
After looking at some of the threads, seems like a lot of folks were able to see the game. Here's my take of what I saw in person.
The GOOD:
Miles Austin sure made a believer out of me tonight; the guy was making great catch after catch; aggresively attacking the ball.
The first-team offense & defense was clicking in their first series...
While he's no Ray Lewis or Brian Ulracher, Bobby Carpenter was very active and aggresive. He even managed to lay the wood on a couple of Chargers, which I've never really seen him do before. Very positive game for him to build on.
Zach Thomas, the guy still has it, he was all around the ball with the first team defense. If healthy, he's going to be the active linebacker Akin Ayodele never was.
Mike Jenkins had a nice PBU very early on in the first quarter, he would have had a the INT had he kept his feet and turned his head faster to locate the ball.
Obviously, anyone who saw the game would be excited over Felix Jones. His vision on the long run and reception is exactly what he was advertised to have. IMO, Julius Jones would have never made those cuts.
The BAD:
Wade Phillip's decision to not have a single practice of full tackling so far this training camp was evident during the game. I can't tell (I'm sure you saw them yourselves) you how many busted tackles and bad angles guys were taking all night. The players simply weren't ready. Now, I certainly don't think this will continue on into the season, as the preseason games will work to straighten out the kinks, but again, it was clearly evident that it effected the players this game. IMO
Folks, our special teams unit's were an absolute joke. Now this is something that concerns me, because it's just the continuation of last year. For some odd reason (bad wedge, pursuit angles...?) our first wave of would-be tacklers can't make a play on the KR/PR.
On a positive note, Bobby Carpenter actually showed his smarts on one punt return when he saw Justin Rogers take a bad angle on the PR, Carp immediately headed upfield to get the angle and eventually forced him out of bounds.
Adam Jones, looked very rusty. However, you can see the athleticism. If he continues to get this much PT in the rest of the preseason games he'll be just fine.
Martellus Bennett had a very bad game. I'm assuming most people noticed the drop pass, but what you may not have noticed was on the very next play while pass-blocking, he let his man run right around him to force pressure and knockdown Brad Johnson, whose ball fluttered out of his hand for an incompletion.
Hands down though, the player who had the worst game (IMO) was Kevin Burnett. On at least two occasions Burnett was shook out of his jockstrap by the RB he was squared up on in the open field. On another play, Hester drilled him right in his chest, knocking him back a yard and ultimately on his back.
By no means am I spelling doom & gloom on this kid, but I have yet to see anything either from last year or this training camp/preseason that gets me excited about Alan Ball.
I don't think it means a pink-slip, but Amendola didn't help himself with that fumble on the punt. It was nice to see Terrell Owens and P. Crayton specifically encouraging him when he got to the sideline.
***On a side note, the crowd at San Diego was absolutely incredible. The Cowboys presence in the city was huge. It was literally half Chargers, half Cowboy fans in the stands.
My buddy's sister is a Charger girl, we were talking after the game and she said she has never seen the stadium filled with so much of the oppossing teams fans!
