Last offseason Johnson was the "coach to get." 2024 was a hot mess for the Bears. They had to fire Matt Eburflus midseason for being incompetent (where did he land for 2025?) Johnson took a good roster and has them playing winning football and playoff bound. Johnson delivered. Coaching matters. Sometimes the coaching changes work out. Sometimes they do not. But a good FO must strive to get the very best guy available and give him a chance to run things.

Not with this roster, same results!!!!

Ben Johnson and Vrabel were both out there but Jerry had no interest at all. Familiarity and keeping Dak totally comfortable won out. Plus of course Schotty was cheaper.
Unfortunately there was always 0% chance Johnson or Vrabel would come here. This is a job for the truly desperate. No coach with other options would willingly sign up to be neutered by Jerry.

Yup.

Some fans here who will remain nameless were saying "look at Ben Johnson" when being compared to Schotty in week 3.

Now look.

If you are wondering why the Cowboys didn’t even interview Ben, I would suggest taking a look at exhibit 1 and 2. Jerry and Steven’s radio show segment on the fan last week. They got this. :banghead:   Some one will get sent to their room with dinner tonight.

Delivered what exactly?
They beat the Packers without Love and Parsons and a offensively flailing Eagles team.
After that it was the commanders, giants, raiders, Browns etc. Let's see what they do vs the 9ers and if the can improve on that 52-17 thrashing they got from the Lions. Oh, and maybe beat someone with a winning record in the playoffs. Until then, they're just this year's commanders benefiting from a strong defense and really weak schedule!

Dak Prescott is a coach killer. Any half way decent coach does not want to hitch his wagon to that loser.

those are not yes men, they wont keep quiet when Jerry and his idiot son skip most of free agency .
This... plus Johnson wouldn't tolerate Jerry calling him into his office and treating him like a coaching intern, and telling him what plays he wants run, and who his coordinators are going to be. And the 1st time Jerry tried to publicly put Johnson "in his place" Johnson would push Geriatric Jerry down on the ground with one hand

Jerry needs soft, paintball playing Yes Men that wouldn't get any credit if Dallas happened to win a Wild Card game one year, because he needs constant attention and validation due to being such a weak weak person.

Jerry really does make the worst decisions.

Schotty was likable, familiar, and cheap--and we're going to throw several years in the toilet trying to prove he was a good hire.

Just like Garrett, Campo etc

Bingo. Jerrah didn’t want to spend on Johnson and more importantly he was more comfortable with Schotty. Jerrah’s comfort is more important than winning. Jerrah wanted continuity and he got it. Another year with no playoffs and 30 years and counting of zero NFC championship game appearances. That’s continuity.

Exactly. At this point in Jerry’s life, it’s all about comfort. That’s why he needs to step down. But, in the end, he has no incentive to do so. The Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise in the world.

Honestly, I don’t know how. I live near Waco. I don’t see anyone wearing Cowboys paraphernalia. My church is full of Chiefs and Packers fans. At a Christmas parade last week, I saw a Niners and a Bills hat. You know what I didn’t see? Anything Cowboys related. It boggles the mind.
