There comes a time when you must ignite your football team. Sometimes that means you put your players in check. We saw the Giants do it with their two linemen this past week after they were accused of not giving it their all.

Barber just does NOT seem to be the same player he was the last couple of years. Although he might have the heart, His speed has slowed dramaticly.

I was (am) a Felix Jones fan. I believed he had all the right moves to make him a great RB. And try to convince myself that he needs 15-20 carries to get into a good flow. Unfortunantly hes playing scared and im questioning if he really has the heart.

That leaves us to Choice. While probably not as gifted as the other two, He HAS the heart and the burning desire to prove himself. I say, you name him the starter TODAY and send the message to your team that no player is safe. You challenge each and every player and let them know that you too can lose your job.

I know there are many who will mock my thinking but can you give me one reason why you should be doubting Choice?

Let Barber and jones fight for the right to carry the ball. I think Choice has waited patiently and earned his chance.

That would take a sac by the coach/ owner and would mess with our continuity.

To dream is to dream big.

And that is a big dream.

I would welcome the change, but, highly unlikely.

I don't think you bench anyone, but I am pretty confident that based upon the way the line is playing, Choice would be the most productive back.

He has the best vision and picks his spots to get 4-5 yards. Barber has gotten really slow and can't break a tackle. Felix must still be hurt, because he looks nothing like he used to.

With a crappy oline, Choice will get the most YPC.

i'm just of the opinion that the real turnaround this team needs is that people realize there are consequences if you aren't playing well.

messages need to be sent to guys to get their butts in gear.

i don't know what the deal is with Barber and Jones, but as someone has already mentioned, Choice just has a hunger out there right now that i'm not seeing from the others at this particular point. it probably comes from being #3 in the rotation, but he always goes out there wanting to prove he belongs on the team and on the field.

Choice is the best back right now... But we have no continuity in the running game up-front, so it really is irrelevant...

barber really looks slow and inconsistant due to his injuries

choice really needs to get more carries. not just a few razor back runs here and there

but it wont happen. this coaching staff doesnt have the balls to make moves.

austin would probably still be on the bench if roy doesnt get hurt

choice wasnt even given a chance until we had no other option last yr

look how long it took before we finally gave up on julius jones as the story. we have a history of being afraid to make important changes in personal

this staff has been slow to pull the trigger for some time now

I don't want to go into who is better RB but I think Choice's skill set is what is best for this offense right now. Someone who can get 3-4 yards consistently, someone who can also catch well and pickup the blitz pretty well. We need someone who can help the offense keep the drive going.

It seems like MB is too slow and he can't even break DBs tackles and with Felix it's either feast or famine. I also think that we should use Felix as a decoy more. It seems like every time he's in, the ball goes to him. Defenses knows this now and they just key in on him when he is substituted in.

...
He's the best rb we have...
still can't believe we passed on CJ2K

I watched the first Giants game Friday night, and Barber looked as spry and violent as ever. Skip Peete's comments that his thigh would bother him for 10 weeks at the least is accurate. He lacks explosion due to the injury I think.

Tashard Choice? I like him, he's a nice player but I'd be hesitant to rely on a guy who yesterday decided draw up an audible in the most important game of the season. What am I talking about? On the 3rd and 2 before Wide Left Folk, Romo threw a pass in the flat to pick up a first down. It was a blitz and Romo threw quickly and correctly to the spot Choice should have been at. Choice, seeing OSI covering him, broke off the route and sprinted upfield. Dumb play.

Tony Dungy disagrees with you. I think I'll trust his opinion over yours. According to him, Choice made the right play, Romo made the bad throw/read.

Mendenhall one who got away from Cowboys

There was much second-guessing in Dallas when Jerry Jones used the 22nd pick of the 2008 NFL draft on Arkansas running back Felix Jones over Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall, who fell into the lap of the Steelers with the 23rd pick.

The Cowboys' spin at the time was that the game-breaking Jones, mostly a kick returner these days, was a better complement for Marion Barber than the bruising Mendenhall, but Mendenhall's sophomore breakout season has given Cowboy fans agita.

A look at their careers, yesterday'sstatistics included:

* Jones: 97 carries for 693 yards, five rushing touchdowns and 12 catches for 87 yards.

* Mendenhall: 197 carries for 945 yards, four rushing touchdowns, 18 catches for 158 and one TD reception.

i agree also....when that play first happened my thought was that Romo acted too quickly on that, almost like he thought the pressure was there before it actually was.

i haven't had a chance to watch that play back again yet, but that was my first impression.

Tony Dungy also blamed Romo's trip to Vegas.

Pardon me if I question his omnipotence.

So.... Jones has roughly half the amount of touches that Mendenhall has, but the same total touchdowns.

Jones also has a higher ypc.

Seems to me the problem is the lack of touches for Felix; not necessarily choosing Felix over Rashard.

I saw that also. Choice wasn't even open when the ball needed to be thrown. He had his hand up in the air but the ball was already airborne. Had Romo thrown it there it would of possibly been picked, IMO.

Hey! This is a family board, man! :p:

Yes, I know Barber fumbled. Yes it was huge. Yes I think we win if he doesn't fumble.

But the biggest problem yesterday was that our RBs had NOWHERE to run. Our o-line couldn't do anything.

What I really want to see is a heavier dose of Felix early on... with a little more Choice as well. I want to see Barber less often in the first half and more as a closer. Start him and keep him in there if he's on a role. If not, let him go back to his role as a closer.

I might be in the minority, but I still like him as a starting back. But it's obvious that he thrives off being a closer.

If this coach had half a brain he would make the move to Choice or at the very least give him 10-12 touches a game, but he is a coward, plays it safe and will keep trotting out Barbie and Felix the *****cat every series.
