Coll

Collins was a stalwart 4 of his first 5 seasons.
Martin will be in the club of legendary Cowboys OLinemen.
he was before he got his extension.
since then...in my opinion...he hasnt been the same guy.

but we weren't better when he was here.
the one we really miss is frederick.
but even with collins...post frederick...we have not been a good oline.
collins hasn't been the same guy since his contract extension.
someone or something cut in on him.
We weren’t better? We had one of the best OLs in the league at times while he was here. Do you remember our OT play in 2020 when he was out? Do you remember our LG play last year? You don’t think he would be better than that?

Do we get a comp pick next year if he signs a big deal? I can’t remember if teams do if they cut a player.

No. He was released. For players that count towards the comp pick formula their deals must expire.

no.
i don't.
he hasn't been the same since his contract extension.
he hasn't played any where near that level since.
and since travis frederick left...our oline has been in decline.
the only ones playing at an all-pro level since frederick left are tyron smith and zack martin.
im not gonna over rate la'el collins play just because he got released.
this oline...with collins...POST TRAVIS FREDERICK...has not been what it was.
thats why we're talking about addressing the oline in the draft...BEFORE collins was released.

“Your new bodyguard is in town.”

That’s the text message new Cincinnati Bengalsoffensive tackle La’el Collins sent to Joe Burrowon Sunday after agreeing to his three-year contract with the team.

Collins had an in-house media session with the Bengals after signing the deal, which locks him in as the starting right tackle for the next three seasons in front of Burrow.

As the story goes, Burrow played a key role this weekend in Cincinnati recruiting and hosting Collins. And Sunday, he apparently texted Collins asking if the offensive tackle had signed on the dotted line.

Collins sent Burrow back the following, per Marisa Contipelli of the team’s website: “Your new bodyguard is in town, no one’s touching you.”

For all those bad mouthing Collins, its notable that BB was showing serious interest as well. Then he is signed by a team that just went to the SB and wanted to upgrade its O line badly.

The fact that our idiot front office was unable to get anything for him is clearly their fault.

Definitely feels like Collins has been in the dog house the last couple of seasons. He hasn't been the same player since 19, but didn't think the Cowboys were quite ready to move on from him.

For the Bengals even if they're getting an average starting right tackle its still an upgrade over what they had. Bengals are atleast taking steps to try to improve a weak area.

You’re nuts if you don’t think he would be better than Williams

Collins since Frederick retired? That’s 2 years and He didn’t play at all due to injury in 2020. This past year he was hurt in the preseason and ended up playing against Tampa and played really well. Then he was suspended and never really got going. So you make your decision on who he is based on that? Plus I love Frederick, but he wasn’t good the year he came back so I’m not sure I’d use that as the date to start my decision that the line went downhill. Maybe they in part stunk in 2020 because Collins didn’t play…
