The Cincinnati Bengals are fully prepared to move on without disgruntled wide receiver Chad Johnson if he decides to sit out this season. “We’ve been dealing with this inside for over a year and we’ll be prepared to move on,” Lewis told reporters, according to the team’s Web site. “He has a contract through 2011. If he plays NFL football it will be in Cincinnati, or he has to do what he says and that’s retire. That would be a shame. We’ll do everything we can to help him out of this and try to restore his image.”
I don’t believe Johnson will sit out but the Bengals may want him to. If he decides to play, he won’t be happy and the past has proven he can’t control his emotions. That means he would deliberately try to sabotage the team be dropping balls, or starting fights with teammates and coaches (what’s new).
Marvin Lewis needs to just swallow his pride and trade Johnson for some defensive talent. The Bengals would be a lot better without Ocho Stinko anyways.
