I wonder how this affects the potential training camp in San Antonio and Oxnard plan. I would personally love it if it imploded that ridiculous idea.

Yeah I dont like this busy schedule that our team will have.

Extra preseason games and multiple TC locations = not good imo.

What's the latest on this?

I thought it was in San Antonio entirely.

An article came out of Cali that the Cowboys were inquiring on possibly holding some camp dates.

Nothing solid, only a couple quotes from a representative from that side, and no comment from the Cowboys.

No updates since then.

Thanks, WG. I hadn't heard that and was planning on going to San Antonio this summer.

i guess the extra pre-season game gives the staff more time to evaluate the rookies, 2nd year players, kickers, udfa, etc.

i'm looking for some positives here . . . .

plus, we get to see the cowboys one extra time. :)

Bengals will play Cowboys in Canton

Posted by Mike Florio on February 24, 2010 5:01 PM ET

My kid has been bugging me for more than two weeks about the identity of the teams who'll play in the Hall of Fame game.

Finally, he can move onto another question that he'll ask me over and over again.

The league has announced that the Bengals will face the Cowboys on August 8 in Canton. The game will be televised nationally on NBC.

For the Cowboys, it's their first appearance in Canton since 1988, and it coincides with the enshrinement of running back Emmitt Smith.

Also entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 7 will be receiver Jerry Rice, offensive lineman Russ Grimm, linebacker Rickey Jackson, defensive back Dick LeBeau, running back Floyd Little, and defensive tackle John Randle.

The Bengals-Cowboys game marks a return to the interconference format that had been used in most years. Last season, the league scheduled the Titans and the Bills in honor of the AFL's 50th season.

And with Cincinnati receiver Chad Ochocinco lobbying the team to sign free-agent receiver Terrell Owens, T.O. could be making his second straight visit to Canton -- and he'd be getting his first crack at the team that cut him last year.

Jerry Jones' reaction to Hall of Fame Game

The Cowboys have passed on a quote from owner and general manager Jerry Jones regarding the Hall of Fame Game:

"It's always an honor to be selected to play in this game."

"More importantly, I really believe that having our players share in Emmitt Smith's Hall of Fame enshrinement should serve as an inspiration to every man on our roster, whether it be a 10-year vet or a rookie that's never played in an NFL game. I can't think of a better way to start the season from a motivational perspective than wearing the same uniform as the NFL's all-time leading rusher."

What about when Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman, Rayfield Wright and Bob Hayes were enshrined in recent years? Never mind. I understand Jones' point.

One thing that is too bad is that the NFL discontinued the program Irvin conceived that had the rookies make a trip to Canton, Ohio, to take a tour of the Pro Football of Fame. It was costly, but I think the players got a great understanding of the game's history.

Maybe the league should consider moving the Rookie Symposium to Canton and make the Hall of Fame part of the trip?

Some other tidbits regarding the Cowboys' inclusion in the Hall of Fame Game:

** The Cowboys will get the chance to see old friend Mike Zimmer, the Bengals defensive coordinator. Zimmer was a Cowboys' assistant from 1994-2006, serving as the coordinator from 2000-06. He signed an extension to stay with Cincinnati after his defense put together a solid 2009 season.

** Other former Cowboys could be on hand too: Safety Roy Williams and defensive tackle Tank Johnson are unrestricted free agents but Cincinnati would like both players back. Imagine if Chad Ochocinco gets his way and the Bengals sign Terrell Owens? It's a long shot that has already been shot down but it would be interesting.

** Here's a Did you know?: The Bengals are the only team that Jerry Jones has not made a trade with since becoming the Cowboys owner and general manager. Maybe Jones and Bengals president Mike Brown can get together for a deal on this draft day. The Bengals did try to pry away Martellus Bennett at the trade deadline last fall.

** This will be the Bengals' second Hall of Fame Game appearance. Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com came up with this one: the last time they played in the game (1975, a 17-9 loss to Washington), they finished the regular season with an 11-3 record, winning the division over the Steel Curtain.
